You can post these kinda questions in operating-system/admin forum.
Fair enough.
No need for another forum for VSS.
and VSS is a package, if you need help, press F1
I'm asking...
"How about a forum for database issues."
you're saying...
"We don't need a forum for Access. Press F1"
<edit>
On top of that, you yourself even asked a question about VSS in the poll forum. Why didn't you just use F1?

you can ask questions in any forum, its up to the ppl wheather they answer it or not. But i was not asking for a seperate forum for that kinda question.
and there is a big difference between the two.

Key board is not part of the Operating system.
So i think i need a new forum for reporting disabled F1 key.

the forum says ' Operating Systems / SysAdmin ', so it all fits into your s/w and h/w problems

My point wasn't whether it was the right place for you to post in, nor was it whether anyone would answer it.
The first part of your original reply I took to mean "there isn't enough concern with the topic to merit it's own forum." That's fine.
It's the 2nd part (the reasoning) I was referring to.
You said "it's just a package, so press F1", which implies all the help you need is in the help file. (which I don't agree with BTW)
Yet, you posted a question on the subject, which is a blatant contridiction of your statement.

How about a new forum on source/version control discussions/issues?
A retooling of the 'VS.NET IDE issues' forum may be a good idea. Making a more generic "Development Environments" forum would probably cover your needs

I would think this by itself would eliminate most (not all) of the programming questions if the first ever post by someone was met with a warning page as the red bit at the top is easily overlooked.
if (user.posts == 0)
displayPage(special_warning_page_about_non_programming_questions);
else
displayPage(normalPostPage);
But a lot of first posters post in the appropriate programming forum and then post the same thing in the lounge.

How about if anyone's first post results in an entire page dedicated to telling them that programming posts should never be done in the Lounge?
I really don't visit the forums enough to care, but enough ppl seemed so concerned that I thought I would post this as a possible means of *reducing* (not eliminating) the issue.

Hey Terry. I read you were in the service and have to ask you a waaay off-topic question. My old man was in the Army (communications) and taught me the value of a meal called SOS. I'm just curious if today's Army ppl know what that is?

I can't certainly understand that. I've got several friends in India that say the same thing
I'll definitely check this out on Monday and drop you a line and let you know.

its basically simple mathematics,
1$ = 47Re(Indian)
34.99$ = 1644.5Re
34$ may be average price in States, but in India, around 600Re is the average price for most of the books. you see I would be spending more money if I buy from amazon while i could get the same book printed locally for approx 600-700Rs.

I was in a hurry and mistyped that. I meant "can".
Having been born and raised in Europe with family in the US, I'm always sensitive to currency conversion issues. In fact, when I worked for Holiday On Ice, I helped to design and implement a specific forumula to "smooth" out the flucuations in currency so that our skaters (who were from all around the world) could depend on a consistent income without worrying about these flucuations.

Buying books online is pretty much out for most Asian countries due to the high shipping costs(Around 7USD + 5USD per item). That's like paying 30% more for the book, so I just usually do my shooping offline.

Yeah. I know. I mistyped. I meant "I *can* understand that.".
Luckily I've never lived anywhere where the rate and cost-of-living (COL) was that differnent from any other country with which I had financial ties. PR doesn't count because they use USD, but when I lived in Amsterdam the rate was 2.5, which turned my paltry (by US standards) 20k USD salary into 50k G. In the mid-80's, the COL for Amsterdam and making 50k G meant I could go a couple of months without even cashing my cheque and be ok.

Don't know about India, but I've seen the book in bookstores here, And I would think India gets tech books faster than Malaysia.
