You need to compare the username and password (or a hash of the password) against a previously stored username and password (or password hash). The validation code should probably return only a simple boolean value; true for accepted, false for refused.
But this isn't really an appropriate discussion board (or even an appropriate site) for discussing Java-specific things. Search on Google, and browse through some java sites. I guarantee you that a thousand people have already written exactly what you are describing, and probably a few hundred have explained the entire process on the web. I'm sure you can find an explanation if you look for a while.

I have a C++ project called the VCF[^]. I have been thinking that a port of it using Managed C++ and .Net would be extremely useful. Would others here think likewise? If so would anyone be interested in helping out with this?

Yes, I've been thinking of using managed and unmanaged c++ in the same project together.
But I'm not sure how it is effective and useful. I haven't tried yet.
I'm looking for it soon. Maybe next project!
I would like to recommend one book.
"Extending MFC Applications with the .NET Framework" "by Tom Archer, Nishant Sivakumar"
"Addison Wesley"
quite helpful I think.
Good luck and big progress!

I am making a game for my computer programming class. So far, I have it to where the user can either type in "up", "down", "left" or "right". Because it takes so long to type these in, it is hard to move across the map. I was wondering if there was some sort of code that would get input directly from a button (ie the user presses "w" and I would make it so the user moves up one space). Thanks.

Hi, does anyone know any code editor that is suitable for learning assembly programming language, C and C++ programming language? Because i'm busy with my task at workplace, i can't go check on the market. anybody know the url to download the editor for free to use on learning purpose only?

Try http://www.textpad.com.
This editor allows you to customize the syntax coloring for different types of documents. I have been using it for programming PLC's in a proprietary Assembly-like language. The syntax coloring is great. There is also synchronized scrolling, macro's, regex's and a lot of other nice stuff. But of course, it is just an editor.

I started with C++ recently Basically i am trying to overload the >> operator but couldn't succeed.The aim is to parse the string into different values.Infact this was provided with IBM open classes but not present with standard C++ string
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
#define DELIM '~'
main()
{
string S="2~R~10/01/03~Personal Watercraft~Pers. Watercraft~9.0500~";
string s1,s2,s3,s4,s5,s6;
S >> S1 >> DELIM >> S2 >> DELIM >> S3 >> DELIM >> S;
S >> S4 >> DELIM >> S5 >> DELIM >> S6 >> DELIM;
}
Basically i am expecting the values between delimiters to be populated itno s1,s2...
I have declared this fucntion as in IOC
#ifdef __IOC_ANSI_STREAM
friend std::istream& operator>>(std::istream& aStream, string& aString)
#else
friend istream& operator>>(istream& aStream, string& aString)
#endif
Can you experienced guys let me know how to implement this or what has to be done to acheive the desired values.Thanks a lot in advance
Thanks
Sas

I am working on development of an email system for large attachments. Since we cannot mail large attachments via mail.I want to develop an email system which automatically detects the size of an attachment and if its exceeding the LIMIT it splits the attachment and mails it to the user providing a .exe file or presupplied s/w for joining the splitted files.
I want a file splitter source code in c/c++/java for a reference and quicker development.
Can ne body tell where i can get???
thanks

I am using Asynchronous calls to a remote object in managed C++. The client is also managed C++ and uses delegates with BeginInvoke and EndInvoke. I have this all working and compiling fine so long as the parameters to the romote object are all input parameters. I can not figure out how to specify the delegate/BeginInvoke/EndInvoke with an output parameter. Is there an equivalent to the C# ref or out ? Can anyone provide an example of how to do this?

Here's a simple example:
#using <mscorlib.dll><br />
using namespace System;<br />
public __delegate Int32 FactorialCallback(Int32,Int32*);<br />
public __gc class Factorial{<br />
public:<br />
FactorialCallback *fc;<br />
Factorial(){<br />
this->fc=new FactorialCallback(this, GetFactorial);<br />
}<br />
Int32 GetFactorial(Int32 iSeed, Int32 *iNumberOfCircles){<br />
(*iNumberOfCircles)++;<br />
return (iSeed==0)?1:(GetFactorial(iSeed-1,iNumberOfCircles)*iSeed);<br />
}<br />
Void FactorialComplete(IAsyncResult *ar){<br />
Int32 iNumberOfCircles;<br />
Int32 iResult=this->fc->EndInvoke(&iNumberOfCircles,ar);<br />
Console::WriteLine(S"The result is {0}, nuber of circles is {1}",iResult.ToString(),(iNumberOfCircles-1).ToString());<br />
Console::Read();<br />
}<br />
};<br />
<br />
int _tmain()<br />
{<br />
Factorial *fact=new Factorial();<br />
Int32 dummy=0;<br />
AsyncCallback *ac=new AsyncCallback(fact,&Factorial::FactorialComplete);<br />
fact->fc->BeginInvoke(5,&dummy,ac,NULL);<br />
Console::WriteLine(S"Main complete");<br />
Console::Read();<br />
<br />
return 0;<br />
}

Hello,
I discovered Jay Nelson's article XML Commments for Managed C++ Applications (http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/MCXDoc.asp) with great joy, as this is a pressing issue for me. However I have not been able to make the addin actually generate XML. There is no contact info for the author in the article or elsewhere that I can find. So...
Has anyone had success with this addin?
If the author is reading this thread, would he be willing to contact me?

Look at this wonderful tutorial: Java to C++ Tutorial.
I started in C/C++. Java and C# were much easier to learn because they got plenty of syntactic sugar from C++
