I know I'm doing something unnecessary here, but it is sunday morning after all...
float a = 986.366;
float *b = &a;
for(int i = 0; i < sizeof(float); ++i )
{
printf("%2x", *((unsigned char*)b+i));
}

In Windows 2000 if you create an app and then erase the title and then press Ctrl+Alt+Del and look for your app you can't see it. But in Window 98 you'll see the app if it is running when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del. I guess Windows 98 takes the name from the exe!?
So, I don't want my app title in the Ctrl+Alt+Del window!! How to erase it?

Try with
WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW
From MSDN:
"A tool window does not appear in the task bar or in the window that appears when the user presses ALT+TAB."

I want to be able to drag a hyperlink from a webpage and drop it onto my listview control so that the control can add the url text to the list.
I was hoping that I could just use the same kind of code as for dropping files onto a list view control but I can't seem to get it to work.
Can somebody point me in the right direction. MSDN doesn't seem to have much on doing this, although I'm probably just using the wrong keywords.

Get my utility ClipSpy from the Clipboard section here, which will show you the clipboard formats used when you drag a link. With IE6, the URL is in plain text in a format called "UniformResourceLocator".

Trying to add strings to a simple List Box, based upon posted tutorial for ClistBox.
The member varible I have set up with Class Wiz is:
mc_dirlist2
When I attempt to add a string to the box with:
mc_dirlist2[0].AddString( "test data" );
I get error:
error C2039: 'AddString' : is not a member of 'HWND__'
Any help would be appreciated!
|
|
|
|
|
What kind is mc_dirlist2?
The code should be something like this
CListBox m_DirList2
and used like
m_DirList2.AddString("test data")

Thanks for response, Michael.
I created the variable using Class Wiz.
Being confused about whether to define iit as a:
string or control
I tried both.
The corresponding .h files does indeed define
it as CListBox member.
...still stuck .....

If you have your variable set a listbox then AddString should work no problem.
The only thing I noticed is that your code
<br />
mc_dirlist2[0].AddString( "test data" );<br />
is trying to access an array of ListBoxes is this correct?
a single list box would be accessed mc_dirlist2 not mc_dirlist2[0].
Can you clarify exactly how you are calling AddString
Michael

Michael,
Thanks again. I changed code per your observation to:
mc_dirlist2.AddString( "data" );
and it now compiles and runs
BTW:
What I am pursuing is to let the user select a file or files from his/her HD, so my next task is to find the function that reads the files and directories within a specified start directory.
BTW2:
I'm an old C dinosaur (mostly DOS and Unix), just getting wet with Windows and C++.
Thanks again!

Have a look at CFileDialog or if you want to do it yourself then CFileFind.

Also CListBox has the Dir() function if you do not wish to use the CFileDialog class.
Happy programming!!

Does anyboday knows what is the problem here ? The follwoing source is
compiled on MSVC, but when its executed there is a "Access Violation." ?
template< typename TYPE >
class TYPEDPROPERTY;
class PROPERTY
{
public:
template< typename TYPE >
operator TYPE ( )
{
return (TYPE) 0;
};
};
template< typename TYPE >
class TYPEDPROPERTY : public PROPERTY
{
public:
TYPEDPROPERTY( const TYPE& tValue )
{
m_tValue = tValue;
}
protected:
TYPE m_tValue;
};
And the way how I use it
...
TYPEDPROPERTY< int > a( 1 );
int iA = a; // Access Violation.

Hi guys, I would like to create a windows and insert a Tree List. I would like that my window can attach to the main window application or to detach it and give it a Corel Draw style or something similar.
Inside this windows I would like to display a Tree list (CTreeView).
I remember that I found something here in this site but I don't remember where.
Anyway can anybody give me a suggestion?
Thank you very much.

I want my app to check if for example the windows media player is running, or MS Word, or any app!
I know this may be difficult or something like that!
I know that way to get the window of an app but then how to get the class name when you don't have it?
I can get acces to WinAmp because they have the class name of the window on the developer section on winamp.com
HEEEEEEEELP!!!!

Use Spy++. Hit Ctrl+F, then drag the selection cursor over Word, and Spy will show the class name.

Put this line after your declaration [SHFILEOPSTRUCT sh;]
ZeroMemory(&sh, sizeof(SHFILEOPSTRUCT));
