If I want to know the dependancies of IE patch ?how should I know?
where are these patch ids stored.
How should one come to know that a IE has patch?
How should one come to know that a machine has a patch?

Try
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\MinorVersion

Check the NetWkstaGetInfo() from the Platform SDK! If this is not quite helpful, you may consider another API from the networking API in the PSDK!

You can get a list of the interfaces in which you can get the IP address
WORD versionRequested;
int wsError;
WSADATA winsockData;
SOCKET s;
DWORD bytesReturned;
char* pAddrString;
SOCKADDR_IN* pAddrInet;
u_long SetFlags;
INTERFACE_INFO localAddr[10];
int numLocalAddr;
versionRequested = MAKEWORD(2, 2);
wsError = WSAStartup(versionRequested, &winsockData);
if (wsError)
return;
if ((s = WSASocket(AF_INET, SOCK_DGRAM, IPPROTO_UDP, NULL, 0, 0)) == INVALID_SOCKET)
{
WSACleanup();
return;
}
wsError = WSAIoctl(s, SIO_GET_INTERFACE_LIST, NULL, 0, &localAddr, sizeof(localAddr), &bytesReturned, NULL, NULL);
if (wsError == SOCKET_ERROR)
{
closesocket(s);
WSACleanup();
return;
}
closesocket(s);
numLocalAddr = (bytesReturned / sizeof(INTERFACE_INFO));
for (int i = 0; i < numLocalAddr; i++)
{
}
WSACleanup();
Hope that helps.

Call gethostname() followed by gethostbyname() .

Use gethostbyname() for this, too.

i've tried overloading the operator >> and <<... but the compiler keeps complaining that i cant acess private data. this is after using a friend fuction. all other friend fuctions can acess private data except these two function. i am currently using VC++ 6.0 can anybody tell me whats the problem.
hre is an example of the code
//point class
class mypoints
{
private:
int x;
int y;
public:
//constructors
friend istream& operator >> (istream& s, mypoint& p);
friend ostream& operator << (ostream& s, mypoint& p);
};
//////////////////////////////////////////////
//function defination
istream& operator >> (istream& s, mypoint& p) {
cout<<"enter the x value : ";s>>p.x;
cout<<"enter the y value : ";s>>p.y;
return s;
}
what could be the problem

what is the exactly the error. probably the compiler has a conflict with the dynamic linked library that VC++ is using or the static library. What is the goal of your program ?. Give me the lib files you are using and a bigger part of your code.
I could help you find another way

i think its a compiler problem because all the other friends function can access the private member data execept the one with the stream objects. so how do you fix the compiler conflict.
i have tried reinstalling VC++ and include its components but its still giving me the same messsage " ..... cannot access private member... see declaration of the the variable "

Can someone please tell me how can I change the resolution of the scren in a win32 application. Hope you don't have to import functions from the Microsoft DX. Something as simple as you can.

how can I determine, using C++ or Win32 api which encoding is a Text file written in ?
I have a text file in either unicode or utf8 or ascii and I need to determine which encoding the file is written in. the solution about checking the BOM to verify the encoding dosnt work as not all text files have a BOM associated. eg: vrmlutf8 encoded files normally have a missing BOM.
|
|
|
|
|
You can use the IsTextUnicode() API function to test your file. It uses an array of test, including statistical and/or BOM to see if your file is UNICODE or not. It is not full proof, but I haven't had any problems with its results so far.

I have some code I want to compile. I have installed Visual C++ 6.0 but I get a build error:
error C2065: 'INTERNET_CONNECTION_OFFLINE' : undeclared identifier
I understand I need to use a later SDK so I have downloaded the very latest one and installed it but my problem is not solved. I think I must now direct Visual C++ to the SDK directories instead of the old ones. Is this correct? How must I do it?

It could be because you've not included <WinInet.h>> in the right place (maybe!)

I suppose you are speaking about the Platform SDK here... If you have the latest, you need to move them up in the directories listing for include files & library files in the Project settings dialog box.

Hello everyone,
Just a simple question,
how to display line number in
the Microsoft Visual C++ version 6.0?
thanks
Ronald

There is no way in MSDEV, the IDE we use for VC++ 6.0 development - to display line numbers.
Alternatively there may be some plug-in written to extend the MSDEV environment, but I've not yet come across any yet.

Whattt?!?
Such a complex IDE and there's no way
to display the line number??
What a horrendous crime!
