I'm looking on suggestion on how to check and see if an application is running. The referenced knowledge base article is old and I was thinking that there has to be a better way of doing this in VB6...

I'm not sure what you found in the article, there are two popular techniques.
1. Use FindNextWindow, looking for a window with the same name as yours. If found then exit.
This is the most common method. It fails (or is at least difficult) if the window title is variable or there are many different windows that might or might not be open.
2. Check the list of running processes looking for your .exe name. There should be only one. If two found then exit.

Hey there,
I own a very small specialty autoparts store. Mainly we deal on stock parts for classic cars and performance parts for later models and racing teams. I have some very small experience with VB but it's not enough to get me through this program. What I need is simply a way of managing a small inventory of parts in a sequential file database. I'd like to use a .txt or .doc file so I can print easily/email my complete inventory list to customers.
I simply want one form for me to be able to enter new products into this file (I have a product code and some other info. I've already made this form). I then need a restock button to bring up an input box that will allow me to adjust inventory for new amounts.
The only other form is an invoice form for my end only. I want to be able to check and make sure we have enough stock, warn me if we don't have enough and finally just tally a total cost. This invoice just needs to print out to a .txt or .doc as well.
The forms are done. I just need the code. It's mostly basic stuff and I really don't need anything fancy. I'd like it done before Tuesday afternoon, but I'm thinking a good VB coder could knock this out pretty quickly.

Have a look at the code below, this is one way of loading a DLL in VB. Use the loadlibrary function to load the dll.

I have one field.text with F = "(2*V)+30". In another table
I have the value of V = 50 . Then HOW I CAN TO HAVE R = F, getting R = 130 .

Following order of operations you should get 130:
1. V = 50
2. (2 * V) = 100
3. 100 + 30 = 130
There is nothing wrong with that statement, it should evaluate to 130.

hi..
I am trying to design a 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) type Report writer tool... I want the user to be able to place labels, pictures and fields from a Database on to the report.. Can anyone give me tips on how i should do this??
The DataReport designer which comes with Visual Basic does everything i want to do.. Is there a way that i could use the 'design view' of the DataReport at run-time in a VB or VC application and then invoke the actual report through a command button or a menu-option??? In other words, how can i place a DataReport in design mode on a form at Runtime?? Can it be done????

I'm trying to import a text file into my Access 2000 database using the VBA function TransferText:

I have been wondering:
1)if it is possible to access the DAO Workspace being used by a VB3/4 app. accessing a Access 2.0 database. This uses BLOBs written to the database and I do not have the structure for the BLOBS. Can these be deciphered? I thought this may be possible if one could access the Workspace, but I guess one would also need to know how the these are defined in the code? As is apparent, this is a 'legacy' app and I do not have access to the code, but want to use the info in the BLOBs for reports and other interfaces. Any help would be much appreciated.
2) Along a similar line of thought, is it possible to change the graphics in a Picture box in a compiled app's logon screen if one does not have access to the code? Or to call it from an app with customised logon screen, making the legacy logon screen screen invisible and just feeding it username and password from the customised logon screen? This is an internal app and no licensing issues are involved. Again, any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
