Several members have links to personal websites as a part of their signature. And page ranking of these sites increase as they spread all over the discussion forums. Or are the spiders prevented from reading the forums.

Hi there,
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, or if anyone else besides me would like it, but I usually refresh the whole forum page after rating a message, just to see what is the new score.
So I thought it would be nice if the new score was displayed in the small "Thank you for voting" popup window, if this is possible. What do you guys think about this?

This sounds a lot like the standard codeproject html template file. I use it all the time when writing/developing my articles. The only difference between its output and the final things is the difference in the img tags, and maybe a small amount of differences in some of the formatting of code. Other than that, its normally exactly like the "finished" article.

I normally set up a sub directory into where I put the images that will be named exactly like the article directory structure.
So, say you are creating an article that will be called my_cool_article, I just create a subdirectory called "my_cool_article" and I place the images in there, while I am writing up the html I create the img tag like <img src="my_cool_article/my_image.jpg" ...>
Then when it comes to uploading the article, I can copy the HTML from the template based file without modification. When the images are uploaded everything is in the right place and it all works out.

Well, this isn't actually a suggestion for the message boards themselves, but I was thinking that it might be cool to have an app that could monitor the forums, alert the user when new messages are posted in the forums, and be able to post new messages.

Sorta. I didn't know about Desktop Bob, and he is pretty cool. But I was thinking of something that could monitor specific message boards, view the messages' text, and post new messages right from the app. I think I might be able to modify DB to what I want though.

Bad idea. Ads pay for the bandwidth, and the advertisement model used by codeproject is one of the most bearable in the whole sloggoth called the internet.

Why authors are able to vote their own articles? I don't say it's good or bad, I just want to know why?!

In most elections, the people on the ballots are allowed to vote. If you were not allowed to vote, that could be interpreted as a deterent to running for election or in this case to producing an article. That's my best guess at it.

Because every article deserves at least one decent vote. 
It would not be that complicated to avoid people voting their own articles, after all, you cannot vote on your own messages posted in forums.

Chris, my apologies in advance; I do GUI's for a living, so I tend to notice these 'off-by-one-pixel' things.
In the new and improved menu bar ("Help! Articles Message Boards StoreFront Lounge"), the drawing is a wee bit off. It appears the orange background for the menu is drawing one additional pixel below the rest of the orange bar that contains the search edit control. Hovering over the menu items drops down the menu correctly; when it closes, the off-by-one phenomenon is still there.
I don't know if it's useful information, but I'm using IE 6.0, running on Windows XP, SP1. Screen resolution is 1280x1024, desktop is set for large fonts. Themes are enabled.

I am trying to modify my article (it's still unedited) and when I am on the second step (the actual modification step), the Article text appears to be empty - nothing at all. I tried few times and it doesn't get better.
The textbox is empty in both design and html view modes.
Can I fix that on my own?
