Hi,
I need to know if we can check the state of an .exe file from asp page. The desired operation is to run and exe file from an asp page but if there are more users requesting to that file than the asp should either queue them or tell them to try again later...

the page that you point to in href= should have the bgColor you need (0x000000) and the picture can be displayed on it using img tag.

I dont think that you can do such thing without writting some kind of ActiveX control.
HTML, ASP and JavaScript will not allow you to do anything like that.

guys
i have a web page that has the mediaplayer embedded into it ... all is fine and it works great if u pass the movie url as a PARAM tag in the code of the page
what im trying to do is to set the url and start the movie playing when someone clicks a button (high | med | low for example) but it isnt working
does anybody have any clues?

<script language='javascript'>
function wmp_play(url)
{
wmp.URL=url;
wmp.controls.play();
}
</script>
<a class='vid' title='play high bandwidth video (200k/s)' href='javascript:wmp_play($highurl)'> HIGH </a>
<a class='vid' title='play medium bandwidth video (100k/s)' href='javascript:wmp_play($medurl)'> MED </a>
<a class='vid' title='play low bandwidth video (56k/s)' href='javascript:wmp_play($lowurl)'> LOW </a>
for some reason the colon between javascript and wmp_play isnt showing up but it is there

When i set the URL or FileName property from javascript I don't need to issue any command to start playing it just starts playing. Now that might be because of some of the other settings. But anyway that works for me. What version of WMP are you using? I am using 9
|

|
|
|
im using wmp9 too
when i set the url nada happens
its very irritating

Decided to back up a bit and was just wondering... have you tried this?
document.all("MediaPlayer").FileName = ...
and
< PARAM NAME="FileName" VALUE="">

I've put together some HTCs using FrontPage (only for the site nav - which is actually a local directory - since I hate WYSIWYG) and thought I'd just hit the Browser Compatibility tool for the hell of it. It said that the <public:component> root element is not supported in Internet Explorer 5.0. The HTC reference docs say otherwise (just saying that minimum availability is "Internet Explorer 5".
Unfortunately, all our machines in this building - including the OS images we use for testing - all have IE 6 (I know, not a very good myriad of test images). I tried using FireFox with the user agent switcher and went to the MSDN Library (that uses HTCs for IE) but it delivers the same hard-to-navigate tree for IE 5.0 (using that user agent string) as FireFox / Netscape / etc. HTCs I know are supported by IE 5.0, but I just can't determine if the root <public:component> is (since I want to avoid conflicts by using the behavior name to distinguish exposed HTC members). Can anyone tell me for sure? TIA
