I would have downloaded the sample for one of the toolbars, for example http://www.codeproject.com/docking/ctruecolortoolbar_update.asp[^]. Build the sample and singlestep - in this case it's the function LoadTrueColorToolBar that is interesting. Step into the MFC source, where you will see the underlying SDK calls. The main problem with MFC is not that it is complicated, rather that it is a far too thin wrapper of the SDK

Hi,
how can i get the document pointer of CDocument derived class and traverse thru all views of the document?Say i have the caption of the MDI child Frame which should be activated..Currently that frame is inactive and some other frame is active.Now how can i activate that view....Is there any way such that i can get the handle of the child frame and then gets its window text and compare with my own text.If they both match then bring that frame and its view to active state..........how can i do it????

From the view class, call the GetDocument() method.

How about CFrameWnd::SetActiveView() ?

Use GetWindowText() .

Hello,
I am currently writing a Windows Background Service and have run into some trouble.
So far things have been going well, but the only problem I have is that I need to set the state of the CAPS LOCK to on, which I am unable to achieve.
I have include winable.h and I am using the code:
::keybd_event( VK_CAPITAL, 0x45, KEYEVENTF_EXTENDEDKEY, 0 );
::keybd_event( VK_CAPITAL, 0x45, KEYEVENTF_EXTENDEDKEY | KEYEVENTF_KEYUP, 0 );
Which works in a regular console application, but I can't seem to get it to work in a windows service.
Is there some sort of security restriction that prevents me from changing the key state? Other then that, I have no idea.
Thanks in advance

Why do you need to alter the state of the CAPS LOCK key from within a service?

I do know that Windows Services run as the System user. When you create your service, are you giving it desktop privileges? Perhaps that's what's needed.
Check out the SERVICE_INTERACTIVE_PROCESS flag for the ::CreateService API on MSDN.
Note that chances are, the problem lies with the code that creates and registers your service, not the service itself.

Hi!
I’ve used the java-program “Together” to generate a picture of my programming project, but now my license is out. Anyone got a tip of a good free alternative? I’m using VS.NET and would be very happy if I have a solution there…

The left pane needs to be a CTreeView , and the right pane needs to be a CListView . I assume you've gotten at least that far.
The item(s) in the tree view should start out with just top level drives (e.g., drive C). When any of those drives are expanded, the top-level folders of that drive are displayed. With each folder that is expanded, the folders under it are displayed. This would continue on an as-needed basis. Otherwise, a full scan of the drive prior to displaying, would take way too long to be of any use.
When an item in the tree view is clicked on, the contents of that folder are displayed in the list view.
Here is a pseudo-example.
Here is a C# example. And another.

There are many solutions such as
CImage of MFC(or ATL), some third party libraries such as jpeglib.lib , CImageX etc.

Take a look at the CxImage class here at cp.com

You also have the ability to do it in GDI+.
