Bob,
(I am taking a stab at it, I'm not 100% sure, but it douen't hurt to try.)
I don't know how you are trying to print, but you should loop through the procedure with a FOR -> NEXT loop. This will allow you to enter in the amount of time you want to print. In the loop be sure to increase the variable by 1.

This is much to complex a topic to be dicussed in the forums simply because it takes a couple of articles to explain it all. Google for "Open Source OCR" and you'll find a bunch of projects and discussions on the techniques involved.

Is your app being launched from the context menu?
If so, then you need to get the path from Environment.GetCommandLineArgs . This will return an array of Strings and should have the path that your looking for.

Hi, Dave
Can you speak more clearly for me???
How can register environment variable? I cant find it!!! I use VB6
Do you have any documents about it??? Pls send me: doantram77@yahoo.com

Sorry, I assumed you were using VB.NET.
In that case, you have to get the command line arguments from Command().
Dim cmdArgs As String
cmdArgs = Command()
You don't have to register any environment variables...

Can you explain this code to me:
Dim regKey As RegistryKey
regKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("Software\MyApp", True)
regKey.GetValue("Version", 50)
What Changes mus i do to make the value in the registry read from a text box.

Are you saying that you want to take a value the user typed into a TextBox and write that value to the registry?
The following code will do that:
Dim regKey As RegistryKey
redKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("Software\MyApp", True)
regKey.SetValue("Version", TextBox1.Text)
regKey.Close()

hello
i need your help. the text below i get from the msdn website
Change the caption of the form to "TCP Server."
Draw a Winsock control on the form and change its name to tcpServer.
Add two TextBox controls to the form. Name the first txtSendData, and the second txtOutput.
im not sure where to draw a winsock control as mention above
i try searching the toolbox but nothing is found
can you please tell me where can i get it?
do i need to select or enable anything to get the control?
thank you in advance

I take it your using VB6...
You have to add the Winsock control to the Toolbox. Right click anywhere in the grey area of the toolbox and select Add Components. Scroll down the list that comes up and click on the check box next to "Microsoft Winsock Control", I think(!), I can't remember the exact name. If you can't find the name, Browse for the file "Mswinsck.ocx" and add that instead. The control came with the Professional and Enterprise versions of Visual Studio 6.0 or Visual Basic 6.0. It does NOT come with the Learning Editions.

If your using VB.NET, you don't have the Winsock Control. The example your looking at is for VB6. VB.NET uses the System.Net.Sockets namespace to do everything that the Winsock control did in VB6.

this means that this winsock is done just by pure coding?
can you please give me a small coding example or a link to a place where i can refer so that i can understand more clearly
thank you Dave

You can search the articles on CodeProject for "sockets" and you'll come up with a bunch of 'em.
There aren't any written in VB.NET, but there are in C#. You can convert the code to VB.NET pretty easily. You can start with Asynchronous socket communication

can anybody help me in testing the speed of sqlserver connection and its query speed...
|
|
|
|
|
the only way I could think of is to get the system time just before running the query and the system time just after running the query. Get the difference of it, store it in a variable and just check it out.

A good rule of thumb is that a single (indexed) query will take between 10 and 50ms. Average is usually < 30ms. I usually assume 30ms and base my calculations on that. If actual results differ, then I look into it more closely.
You can use the SQL profiler tool that comes with SQL Server to monitor queries and how long they are taking. You can use Query Analyzer to view the query plans of queries that are performing badly.

Hello to all..
This time I need your help with the windows registry...
After a series of operations, if all went to good end, I should introduce a key in the registry...
How do I create it? I saw some keys that inside have like value some numbers, for example 50, 75....what does they mean?
How do I be able therefore to write in it???
These operations I should not do them manually from the registry but with some code in vb....
Thanks early to all..

It doesn't sound like you've any experience with the registry. I would HIGHLY recommend that you get to know the registry BY HAND before you start poking around it with code. If you don't know what your doing and what the registry value types are, you really can't write code for it without risking irreversable damage to the registry and possibly the ability to even boot Windows.
But, for an idea on how to write your own functions to create keys and values and read them, see this[^] article on MSDN. Also, there is this[^] article on here CodeProject.

Hi there !
Here's the question. My application is finished and is compiling very well. However, when I'm trying to do the setup, it tells me that I'm missing a dependency for ADODB (mscorlib version 1.0.3300.0 and that should be in framework 1.0, I think)
The only version that I found on my pc was mscorlib 1.5 (framework 1.1). Wherever I looked on the Internet, I couldn't find the right version.
Is there anybody who could tell me where I could find it, or is there a mean to make my application work with version 1.5 ?
Any help would be Grrrrreatly appreciated !!
Thanks !
Mart

Try installing MDAC 2.7 first. Then, if your app was developed on the .NET Framework 1.1, make sure that is installed. If your app was developed on .NET 1.0 install that. Then you can probably install your app.

Hello Everyone
I want to create a browser ike interface in Windows Forms using VB.Net. I want to make a UI something like MS Money 2003.
I have read an article on MSDN : "Web-Application Interface" http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnwue/html/ch10e.asp?frame=true
I have understood the concept. But just a bit confused on how would I render dynamic data (like datagrid) on the screen.
Can anyone please provide me with some guidance.
Thanks

But this does not have any information about how to program with components.
