Check a data retrival service first. There are companies that do this, and they know all the tricks.
I suspect you will find the cost is not worth it, but still they are a good place to start. Maybe it will be worth it.

I'm not sure which version introduced System File Checker, but it may have been WinMe. Go to Start/Run and enter sfc.exe. If it exists, the program will check the integrity of critical files in your Windows installation. If it discovers files that are missing or corrupted, it will offer to install fresh copies of them. Let it do so.
If sfc isn't part of WinMe, you're probably out of luck unless you can get the printer manufacturer to admit that their driver uninstall routines are wrong. On the off chance that this happens, their tech support may have a workaround solution for you. Good luck!

Why do you want to know that? You can access the registry settings through the relevant API. If you want to access the registry through the Platform SDK go here[^], or if you are using .NET you can get details here[^]
Does this help?

Can't manage to P/Invoke that Win32 API in .NET? Why not do interop the wiki way!

In windows 95, your system registry is store in the following files:
1. system.dat
2. user.dat
Both of these two files are store under the \windows folder. Before you make change to your system registry, please back up it first to prevent any problem.
To backup your system registry do the following step:
1. Start your computer in safe mode by pressing the key F8 when you see the text "Starting Windows 95". Then choose "Safe Mode" from the list.
2. Make a folder in any place that you want, for example make a folder BackupRegistry in \Windows folder.
3. Change the location in MS-DOS prompt to \Windows directory and type the follwing command (without quotation mark): "attrib -h -s -r system.dat" and "attrib -h -s -r user.dat". This will show will remove the read only and hidden mode from the file.
4. Copy these two files to BackupRegistry folder by using the following command (without quotation mark): "copy system.dat .\BackupRegistry" and "copy user.dat .\BackupRegistry"
5. Then type the following command (without quotation mark): "attrib +h +r +s system.dat" and "attrib +h +r +s user.dat". This command reset the read only and hidden mode for the original file of the system registry.
Note: If you have a problem and want to restore your system registry file, try to load in safe mode and copy the file from the backup place (in this example is \BackupRegistry folder) to the original location (the orginal location is \Windows folder).
Try to use "CfgBack" tool that attach with windows 95 CD-ROM. It is a good tool to backup your windows registry.

Hello everyone,
Are there any way to transfer all user account information from a computer (Windows 2000 Server) to another computer (Windows 2000 Server too)?
Because the hardware problem, I have to install new server to replace old server (in another computer). But I want to keep all user account information in new computer as the old computer. So that, user can log into network as the same username and password after old server has downed.
Any comment is welcome.
Thanks for reading.

Is the old server still operational at all? If so, you can install the new one as a DC and replication partner, and have the old one duplicate the Active Directory information on the new server before you retire it.

Besides some Broadband Providers discarding UDP packets when using SecureClient over broadband, Is there any other reason why SecureClient can't connect into a vpn firewall?

We have developed a C# WinForms application that uses COM Interop to instantiate Excel programatically, populate the worksheets with data from Oracle DB(accessed through ADO.NET) and copy the spreadsheets to a few shares.
The application behaves as expected on our desktops (1 running WinXP Pro and Office XP) and the other running W2K Pro and Office XP). However, the application fails to geneate the report on our Dev and PRD servers (W2K Advanced Server and Office XP)
The application used to work on the servers until a few weeks ago when a lot of new data was added. However, the same codebase still works on the user desktops.
We think it is a problem with W2K Advanced Server as there is nothing different with the code in all 3 envs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

OS: WinXP
I am constantly mapping and unmapping my drive to network path.
Today I needed to unmap an existing drive, went to the 'tools' menu item and realised that my usual 'map drive'/'unmap drive' item no longer exits! WTF.
Where has this gone? I am often twinkling with my services, so is it possible I've disabled a service that added these menu items?
Any help appreciated.

Yeah. Go away. We don't need your kind making our lives any harder than they already are, if you really intend to build such a program. Spyware is one of the major banes of the Internet, and anyone who contributes to the problem deserves nothing short of total banishment from the Internet. Playing with such techniques as a learning exercise is great, to the extent that it adds to your knowledge and makes you a better programmer. Actually building such applications and releasing them into the wild makes you the lowest form of scum in existence.
If the above discussion doesn't apply, please disregard it. We get a lot of requests for guidance about shady practices here, and the more responsible members ignore them. If you're truly benign in your intent, take some time to become known and trusted in the community, read the articles that pertain to your interest, and ask privately of those who you know to be knowledgable in the field to teach you. Under such circumstances you'll find our members to be very helpful.
Oh, btw, what you seem to want to do is entirely possible. Quite a number of people have already done it. We all hate them and would kill them if we could do so without being prosecuted. The FBI is very interested in talking to them, too.

Edit the setup.ini and add something do it. I don't remember what it is though, becuase I don't have a photographic memory. But, Heath Stewart answered this question for me before. Just search the forms!!!!!!!!!!

What I am looking in OutlookExpress is
Whenever any mail comes in to my inbox,I click it.
On the right side pane ,The folders are created by itself denoted by '+ ' sign.
The + sign indicates that the mails aremaintained in a tree view.
I do not want to create a folder.
The folders should be created by themselves like MS Outlook.
Pls guide.

We are setting up a central email server to rid us once and for all of the dumb executive virus syndrome. Some people here use Outlook and others Outlook Express.
That means the files are stored as .pst and .dbx
Is there anyway to get the mail content out of this in plain text or say in mbox(still plain text) or maildir
Thanks

I'm working on an application (Visual C++, MFC, Windows NT/2000/XP) which can be run on a pen tablet computer or a desktop computer. I'd like to detect whether a keyboard is connected or not.
How can I detect the physical presence of a keyboard ? Since the BIOS can tell us if there is no keyboard, this should be possible. The associated information available on the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) layer of Windows don't seem reliable...
