When you save a web page[ for example http://www.microsfot.com/China] to your favorites folder, you will be saving it as a short cut with a descriptive name which goes into a folder in your computer. The format of this will be generally *.url. Now is there a way to get the original string [http://www.microsoct.com/China] from the *url [aliased] file name programmatically.

It's just a text file. Drop it inot notepad to see the format and you can the parse it in your own code to get the url you need.

<td height="202" rowspan="6">321x202</td>

</tr>
<tr>
<td height="25" bgcolor="#CCCCCC" class="style8"><span class="style7">321x25</span></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td height="25" bgcolor="#CCCCCC" class="style8"><span class="style7">321x25</span></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td height="25" bgcolor="#CCCCCC" class="style8"><span class="style7">321x25</span></td>
</tr>
</table>
end code
any idea why? It works in mozilla/firefox...

Whenever there is code that can be interpreted differently by two browsers, it will probably happen.
In this case, you have given the browser the task of taking something of height 343 on the LHS, and told it that it must be the same height as the RHS, which is 391.
Mozilla took one approach, which was to render the LHS correctly, and the top RHS cell incorrectly. IE took another approach, and appears to apply the cell heights proportionally. Go figure.

Hello,
currently I'm fighting with the problem of making ISAPI URL filter for guarding unauthorized access to the files stored in the ASP.NET site (not .aspx files). I tried to use the temporary cookie for listing the folders you could access. I access the cookie info through ALL_RAW server variable. It works well on my computer (IIS 5.0), however the solution does not work on my coleguage's XP machine (IIS 5.1). Whereas on my computer the ALL_RAW contains the asp session cookie, the asp webforms authorization ticket cookie and the special cookie with the list of directories user is authorized to access, on his computer I lack a them. The HTTP_REFERER variable is empty on his computer too.
The filter is normal ISAPI filter and the code takes effect only inside of the ASP.NET application.
Does anyone any idea why it is so? Please help, any comments appreciated.
Thanks

Greetings,
Has anyone attempted to read and write ini files using VBScript? Several possible methods come to mind. Before I head down the trial and error path I thought I would ask if anyone else has already found a solution.
TIA,
Steve
No matter where you go, there you are.

If VBScript is anything like JScript FSO(File system object) is the only way to go.
Cheers

Unfortunately, using the FSO would require the recreation of the whole funtion. I was hoping for a means to implement the GetPrivateProfile function with VBScript.

There is no way, except for using COM objects(JScript anyways) a script can access anything in the windows API.

I have an XML file that is a template for presenting some of our output data. The XML template file is read and manipulated with the XML DOM in C++ code to customize some of the contents. A separate XSL file is available to transform XML tags into pretty HTML, and since my XML file uses these tags, I can see the nice HTML display.
In order not to have to send around and manage both the XML and XSL files (the XSL file I have no control over), I would like to now start with the HTML file, and using the XML DOM, manipulate its contents.
The problem: how can I save the "rendered" HTML tags that are the result of the XSL transformation? Once the HTML is in a web browser, clicking on SaveAs only saves the original XML, not the rendered HTML. I've also tried JavaScript to transform the XML using the XSL, but saving that only saves the original page containing the JavaScript.
Any suggestions?

our current classic ASP application draws some custom round-ended buttons by doing something like this:
<br />
<table border='0' cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0'><br />
<tr><br />
<span onclick="<%= target_url%>"><br />
<td><img src="leftside.gif"></td><br />
<td background="button_middle.gif"><%=GetButtonText%></td><br />
<td><img src="rightside.gif"></td><br />
</span><br />
</tr><br />
</table><br />
basically, it works because a SPAN can handle an onclick event.
well now i've been asked to write a class to do this in C#, and i don't have a clue where to begin. is this something you can handle by overriding the standard button C# class, or would this be some other kind of web control, or... ?
any help is appreciated.

Have a look in the articles, someone has already posted a .Net control for creating rounded displays.
If not, you can extend the button control or the basic System.Web.Control to create your own server control, basically you just add the html you need during the Render method, again there are plenty of articles here already explaining how to do this.

I am trying to create an intranet site that allows users to browse the telephone and other information about users in my Exchange 2000 directory. I know that this can be done with ASP and ADSI through the LDAP protocol, but i cannot get it to work. when i try to do a get object for an ADsPath like "LDAP://cfbc2k1/Users/" i get an error. (BTW: cfbc2k1 is my exchange server and domain controller, the domain is called cfbc.org). When enumerate the children of "LDAP://cfbc2k1", all i get is "CN=Builtin". I can access the usernames and descriptions with "WINNT://cfbc2k1", but I don't know how to get the address book type information like phone numbers.
i have read the article "Exchange Server, ASP and ADSI / LDAP" on this site at: http://www.codeproject.com/asp/Exchange_ADSI_LDAP.asp, but i can't get the example to work
thank you in advance for any help

You can use some component for download such as smartupload.
Please check the following link:

Hi,
I am working on a app which has about 100 of asp forms, on every form
there is a help button to retrieve the corelation help infomation include
a text field naned description and a imge field contents flash movie data.
Any one can tell me how to play the flash movie data to the popup window.
|
|
|
|
|
I have a good suggestion to you, why don't you persist the file name or file name along with the path in your record and play it on demand by supplying the path of that file.
Another way is to create a stream while retrieving data back from the record, just like the flash player runs the stream and while streaming runs the file.
Another way is to cater this data back into a bundle which ultimately become a format that can be run by the flash player.
May this helps.
Need further help, send a reply
Thanks.

Anyone have experience building a search index for documents on a Web site? I can't imagine I'll ever have more than a couple of hundred docs, most of which will be < 1500 words. All I was planning on doing was:
- tally the # of word(s) in each document matching the search word(s) to determine a relevancy.
- give more weight to words that appear in the document title (say 20x)
- remove common words like "the", "an", etc. from the search
These are the things I'm wondering about after browsing the web for info on the subject...
- is it worth it to use stemming? (stay, stays, stayed, staying return the same results)
- is it worth it to use a fancy word frequency algorithm that determines word weight on a per document basis?
