I'm not like totally raw in VB6 I've made & used simple classes and activeX controls.. I'm just a bit rusty in VB6 thats all .
My object oriented concepts are pretty good I should say cos I'm pretty fine in VC++6. The only thing is that the restriction on this project is that its hould be in VB6.
I would like to know on how to start and where to begin.

Start by designing your object model. You don't need VB to do that. You need to design an Interface for your objects that will allow you to walk your object tree. It will also need to support your design for your network simulation. You probably be make strong use of the factory design pattern. to create your objects as you need them.

Hai
I had developed one web application in dotnet with VB.net
as code behind. I had included one addtional Acitvex control
(FpLibX.ocx) in toolbar by selecting Cutomize tool bar. Then in Project/Add Reference /com i selected that control.
Now the problem for me is when i try to access the properties or
functions of that control i am getting following error
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: catastrophic failure
Is there any thing wrong in my steps. Please help me. I am new to
Dotnet.
Regards
Sakthi

Did you add it to the toolBAR (the buttons at the top of Visual Studio IDE) or did you add it to the toolBOX (the controls on the left side of the IDE). The steps you described sugest you added it to the toolBAR. If you want to use the control in your porject, it has to be added to the toolBOX, by right clicking in the toolBox and selecting Add/Remove Items...

Hai,
Sorry I had typed wrongly in my prevoius message("catastrophic failure").I had added ocx control in Toolbox only.(by right clicking toolbox and selecting customize Toolbox and com components but as you said there is no Add/remove items. Am i adding wrong way?. If I am in right path what might
be the problem).

If you right-clicked in the Toolbox window, say, under the Windows Forms Controls tab, you'll get Add/Remove Items... If you don't you're not right-clicking in the correct place.

right now I am dealing with validation errors with this after the data has been processed determining if there is an error
If isValid Then
'will clear the error for the row
e.Row.ClearErrors()
Else
'prevents the invalid changes from being submitted
e.Row.AcceptChanges()
End If
It works, just the way that it should, but the logic is odd in that I have to AcceptChanges(). I do understand what is happening, but if someone else who is unaware of what happens in the acceptChanges method they would scratch their head. So is there a better way of doing this?
|
|
|
|

When invoking AcceptChanges, the EndEdit method is implicitly called to end any edits. If the RowState of the row was Added or Modified, the tee cref="System.Data.DataRow.RowState"/> becomes Unchanged. If the RowState was Deleted, the row is removed.

How to deny the change system date/time using VB
Bye

Simple ... You can't.
This is controller by a security policy. Click on Start/Run and type secpol.msc. The open up Security Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignments. In the right side box, you'll find "Change the System Time". This is teh list of Groups/User that can change the system time. Just change this list, or if your in a domain/Active Directory environment, change the list accordingly and the policy will take effect in the next refresh cycle.

Hi all,
I have MDI application with StatusBar Control.
I want to add capslock and numlock panels..
I tried to establish it with OnKeyUp event
but I have a few problems with it,
one problem is when child window is opened, it gets the messages and not the mainframe...
What is the best way to do it...
Thanks RoyRose78.

I'm not quite following what you want to do,
but if your trying to send "messages" back to a
MDI Parent StatusBar from a MDI Child, I would use this.
DirectCast(Me.MdiParent, MainForm).Panel1.whatever
DirectCast(Me.MdiParent, MainForm).Panel1.Text = "It Worked"

|
|
|
|
Have you tried setting the KeyPreview on your MDI Parent form to True? This should let your main form see all the key events going to the controls under it before they are sent to the controls.
