The history has been a pain for cross browers and now with asp.net's post back methods, you cannot simply call history.back() to get you to the previous page, since there may have been postbacks already issued and you have to keep count of them to even get to the proper page not to mention having it refresh.
In your situation it would seem you would know the url they need to get back to. In this case you could do a Response.Redirect back to the page and I believe that would cause a refresh.

I have tried using the HTTP_REFERER, but this only seems to work when you have a link, and not with a button, I think this is pretty stupid. The reson why this would work well in my project is because I can delete property from about 3 different pages, they all go to the same delete process page. THen it would be great to have a go back link, to the page where the request came from, maybe page A, or page B, or page C.

I'm using ASP with SQL Server, and NOT ASP.NET.
I need someone to please help me format a number when using a SQL query. I don't want to do it using ASP or VB, because it won't work.
Basically, the query looks something like this, with the result given below.
SELECT PropertyID_PK, PropertyPrice FROM tblPropResidential;
Results:
12345 1500000
67890 3500000
45892 10000000
I want these numbers to already formatted when coming from the database.
Like,
12345 1,500,000
67890 3,500,000
45892 10,000,000
Is this possible?

For instance I want to keep track of how many open brackets I have found and how many closed brackets I have found and when they are equal stop executing the regex.

I embed the audio file has extendsion *.au to HTML page as bellow:

It work well on IE of Microsoft but It doesn't work on Netscape. Could you help how to write for it work on both Nestcape and IE.

Dear all,
I write the HTML page as bellow
<object id="id1" style="LEFT: 300px; WIDTH: 200px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 400px; HEIGHT: 200px">

It runs well But I want to write 3 buttons which can play/pause/stop media palayer. That mean user no need to control playing/stopping/pausing by button of Media palyer but user only use these buttons which were created before.
How to do it?

Hello Figh,
You can register your control as follows:
1) Go to command line
2) Type: "Regsvr32" your ActiveXControl's complete path and name.ocx
3) And then press enter

We have a client who insists on knowing if there is a limit to the number of frames you can have in an animated GIF. I have already tried arguing it's not a practical question.

Hello,
i registered a custom program as protocol handler in the Windows Registry and now every time i type in a url starting with abc:// my program is started. The complete url string is then passed to my program as the first command line argument.
Special chars i want to pass to my program are encoded. (" gets %22, etc.)
Why the hell does the Internet Explorer completly eliminate all %22 from the Url? When type in abc://%22bla%22/ in the internet explorer passes abc://bla/ to my program.
Every other Browser (Mozilla) passes the correct abc://%22bla%22/ to my program...
Anybody in here that knows how to work around that problem?

You might be more descriptive. You posted this in the ASP.NET group first and received replies. Since it seems you have not received a reply that helps, you might give more information that people may understand what you are after.
You say "SQL/ASP", those are about as far a part as you can get since one is a generic specification for a database query and the other can be the old Microsoft Active Server Pages.
What language are you actually asking about to format the string in? What database are you using? Is this ASP or ASP.NET? Are you looking for a solution that is in TSQL for a SQL Server, it is for the mySQL, or maybe just old MS Access?

EDIT: Cross browser too please...atleast IE4+ and Latest mozilla/firefox
I am aware of window.screen.width but what I need is a way to get the height of the visible screen/document.
That means as the user resizes window or adds toolbars like Google...the pixels should change as well.
These pages require extensive scrolling so i cannot use a div and set it's height and width to 100% and get it's width...
Anyone know of any other idea???

Is there a way to programatically force IE to the menu option - View - Text Size - Medium? If the user selects something else, things don't properly line up and look UGLY!

If you force your fonts in style (CSS) to "px" settings there will not adjust if they change the view settings.
