Hi,
How is it possible to tack the monitor of a client machine in a networking environment from another client machine?
Thanks

:-DHello,
Ya it's possible. But I what way do you want ? by programming or by any available tool ?
If you want to do it by programming then you will have to learn socket programming.
And if you want some readymade utility then WinVNC is there.You can capture online desktop of any client machine in network.

Hello guys
I can't get MprAdminMIBEntryGet to work properly
HANDLE _hMibSrv;
MIB_OPAQUE_QUERY MibOpaqueQuery;
PMIB_OPAQUE_INFO pMibOpaqueInfo = NULL;
DWORD dwInSize, dwOutSize, dwResult;
PMIB_IFTABLE pIntfTable;
MibOpaqueQuery.dwVarId = IF_TABLE;
dwInSize = sizeof( MIB_OPAQUE_QUERY );
dwOutSize = 0;
if(MprAdminMIBServerConnect(NULL,&_hMibSrv)!= NO_ERROR)
{
cout << "MprAdminMIBServerConnect failed\r\n";
return -1;
}
dwResult = MprAdminMIBEntryGet ( _hMibSrv,PID_IP,IPRTRMGR_PID,
(PVOID)&MibOpaqueQuery,dwInSize,
(PVOID *)&pMibOpaqueInfo,&dwOutSize );
The documentation says that dwResult is either NO_ERROR [which it is not for me ] or one of the following values
ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED, ERROR_CANNOT_COMPLETE,
ERROR_UNKNOWN_PROTOCOL_ID, ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY
So I put a switch statement to figure out the error :-
if ( dwResult != NO_ERROR )
{
switch(dwResult)
{
case ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED:
cout << "1`\r\n";
break;
case ERROR_UNKNOWN_PROTOCOL_ID:
cout << "3`\r\n";
break;
case ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY:
cout << "4`\r\n";
break;
}
nRetCode=1;
}
As you can observe I was forced to comment out three lines because I didnt find ERROR_CANNOT_COMPLETE defined in my entire hard disk
Sucks as you might guess....
any help is hugely appreciated

Hi.
Has anyone done a password change notification for windows 9x.
I want to trigger some process to run on the client side once a change password is successful (in this case windows password which is already synchronised with domain controller and directory services).
I tried to create a password provider which implements PPChangePassword and PPGetPasswordStatus. However, it always crashes when I change the window password from control panel and selecting the network which I want to change password as well. However, if I change the password individually (using "other password"), it is successful.
Does anyone knows what is the problem?

Hello guys
I am trying to access the MAC-IP mapping tables.
This is my code snippet.
MIB_IPADDRTABLE m_MIB_IPADDRTABLE;
retval=GetIpAddrTable(&m_MIB_IPADDRTABLE,
(PULONG)sizeof MIB_IPADDRTABLE, false);
if(retval==NO_ERROR)
{
cout << "Num of entries is " << m_MIB_IPADDRTABLE.dwNumEntries << "\r\n";
}
else
{
cout << "Function failed\r\n" ;
} For some strange reason the function always fails.
Can someone throw some light on this whole mysterious affair?
Regards

That cast is meaningless, in fact I'm surprised it didn't GPF.
You have to provide a ULONG variable, set it to sizeof(MIB_ADDRTABLE) , and pass its address to the function.

Thanks Mike
I did figure that out a minute after my post.
The age-old pointless cast - problem
But I am still having some trouble getting things to work
I might post another thread regarding that

UINT a,p,b; /// 32 bit numbers
char c; /// 16 bit character
a=p>>16;
c=(static_cast<int>(a));
a=(static_cast<char>(c));
a=a<<16;
b=p-a;
c=(static_cast<int>(b));
b=(static_cast<char>(c))+24; /// <----- the strange bit, adding 24!
p=(UINT)a+b;
does anyone know why the value of b is always out by 24?

You've mad several fundamental mistakes.
A char is an 8-bit signed value.
Second, you haven't initialized anything.
Third, your use of the statuc_cast looks like it should not even compile. The corect usage would be
char c = static_cast<char>a;
And last, it's not even clear what you're trying to do.
If you want to cast a UINT to a CHAR, here's a good way to do it:
UINT u = whatever;
char c = (char)u;
You should also expect to lose the upper 24 bits of your UINT when you do this.
Suggest you read K&R's "The C Programming Language". Good luck.

Your static_cast bits have gone awry. Repost except this time click on the "Display this message as-is (no HTML)" checkbox before you click submit.

I've tried to convert a UINT to char and back again, it doesnt work, how many bytes in one UINT and how many bits per byte?
This sounds to be very simple but I'm not having luck!
|
|
|
|
|
Are you talking about a VC6 compiler?
Then UINT is 4 bytes. Each byte is 8 bits.
A char is a SIGNED 1 byte value.
What part of the conversion doesn't work? Aside from syntax error and loss of precision or funny business with the sign bit, there isn't anything that can actually fail.

The loss of precision was teh problem, i'm attempting to use the code in (Strange effects with bitwise operators to solve this)

I simply needed to do this to write a UINT to a 1 byte buffer, so i could save this value!
