Hi All
I have some problem in dialog box application.
I insert two dialog box namely Dialog1 and Dialog 2. Dialog1 contains a command button (Click).Dialog2 contains static text(“Hello Word”) and add member variable m_Hello of CStatic type.
I know “How to call dialog box on pressing the Click command”.
I would like to know that When I press Click button on a dialog1 then second Dialog2 should be called and static text should be hide on dialog2.
What should I write a code on the Click button.
I wrote code on the click button something like that
void Cdialog1::OnClick()
{
// TODO: Add your control notification handler code here
Cdialog2 dlg2;
//m_.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE);
m_Hello.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE)
dlg2.DoModal();
}
Any help is appreciated.

Hello,
you must do the hide action in the OnInitDialog function from dialog2 ( use class wizard to add this function)

If the static control on the second dialog is just going to be hidden once the dialog is instantiated, why bother showing it in the first place? Is there going to be some sort of mechanism on the second dialog that could potentially unhide the static control.
Rajesh_K_Sharma wrote:
m_Hello.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE)
This will not work because m_Hello does not belong to Cdialog1 . The compiler no doubt pointed this out.
If the second dialog is modal to the first, there is no way the first dialog can communicate with the second dialog once DoModal() has been called.

1. I created an SDI application with Document/View support.
2. I added a COleDropTarget to the main view
COleDropTarget m_DropTarget;
3. I added this in OnCreate handler of the main view
m_DropTarget.Register(this);
It should have worked. Unfotunately, DropTarget.Register(this) returns FALSE. WHY??? Please help!!!

Is it possible to flatten multiple memory bitmaps into one device context? I just spent the whole day writing a class for layer management, where you can create as many layers as you like, then address them by name and draw to them, and when your all ready, call one function and it bitblt's all the layers into the dc of your window. The only problem is after I wrote all the code, I realized that the memory bitmaps have a black background, and when you bitblt one bitmap onto another, it just replaces what was there before. is it possible, or did I just waste my whole afternoon?

Sounds like a good candidate for TransparentBlt()

My directory always get much temporary files after compiling. I always need to pick source files (like *.cpp, *.h etc) one by one when I want to copy them to another folder or backup them. It's so pain
Fortunately, I found a program today, it's very useful to me, maybe it's useful to you too. It can copy or clean specfied type of files and integrate with Explorer, very easy to use.
It's name is Clean Now!(http://www.liuxz.com/cleannow/index.htm) I have installed it in my computer and feel good Usually, I develop with VC6 and C++Builder 6. So I create my own "File Group" like following:
VC 6 Source Files: dsw;dsp;cpp;c;h;hpp;def;clw;lib;opt;rc;ncb;
CBC 6 Source Files: h;hpp;cpp;c;lib;dfm;res;bpr;bpg;
Now, it's very easy to copy my source files to another folder or backup them without garbage: (1) Right click at my source folder (2)Move mouse to "Copy"->"VC 6 Source Files" (3) Select a destinition folder. After a few seconds, all source file and only source files will be copied to destinition folder. I don't need to pick them manually anymore!
If I don't want to copy them out, I just select "Clean"->"VC 6 Source Files", and HOLD SHIFT while clicking. All files EXCEPT source files will be deleted. My source folder become clear
You can try it out if you have interest

Here is another one. It also shows how to create a disk cleanup handler with source code.

hai,
In my module, i've 2 multiline edit box, 2 control buttons for send and receive,1 check box.
Here, in 1 editbox i've to give characters and by clicking send control button, store that value in a temporary variable.
By clicking receive control button, i've to display the stored value in the second edit box. Since it is a multiline edit box, all the values in the first edit box are displayed in the second edit box.
So if the check box is checked, then i should receive the values stored in the temporary variable line by line only.
Can anyone help to do it?

Yes, but what specific piece are you having trouble with? I'm assuming you've tried this on your own but are not quite getting it all to come together.
Do you have OnClick() handlers for the two buttons? Do you have a temporary variable? Are you using GetWindowText() and SetWindowText() properly? Are you getting the state of the checkbox with GetCheck() ?

Maybe if you post some source code...
Multiply it by infinity and take it beyond eternity and you'll still have no idea about what I'm talking about.

I have an icon in the system tray for my app to keep it running without showing in the taskbar. However, for whatever reason, my explorer (explorer.exe) crashes every once in a while, then refreshes. When it does this, the icon for my app is gone from the system tray, but others like SQL Server and various other apps I have running refresh themselves. Does anyone know how they do this, or better yet, how I can?

See this MSDN page on the taskbar[^] and search for "TaskbarCreated". That section tells you what do to (basically you just handle a registered message and re-add your tray icon).

Hi there,
I'm having trouble upgrading my VC++ 6.0 to a .NET compiler (manually of course). I recently installed the free Visual C++ .NET 2003 toolkit from the Microsoft Web-site (they don't provide tech support for the toolkit). It's a command-line C++.NET compiler. I'm trying to integrate it into the VC++ 6.0. How do I do this?
Thanks

Specify the directory in the the options, directory page under Executables. Make sure the path to the new compiler is above the path to the old one.
Note that the VC++6 debugger does not support the debug information generated by the new compiler, so you won't be able to use the integrated debugger to debug programs compiled with the new compiler.
