The qeustion should be has anyone ever done anything with the RealScan library? And from what I can tell when searching for RealScan, that's not very likely.
Handling events in VB/VBA/VB.Net is so common it happens in virtually every app everyone writes.
It LOOKS like everything is OK. There are many possibilities as to why your having a problem with it. The signature of the event handler could be wrong, the documentation on the library could be wrong, the library firing the event when it's supposed to and your not looking for it at that time, or you expecting the event when the library is not supposed to fire it, or are you supposed to call an initlization function after you create the object... The list goes on and on...

Man, you make a lot of demands.
We'll help you with code that you have attempted and are having a problem with, but we won't solve your problem for you. You won't learn anything that way.
What code do you have and what's the problem your having?

Has anyone here on CP started working with Microsoft's Concept Application IssueVision, If you have, do you have any of the details on the password hash and user scheme. I'm just checking before I try to "hash" it out.
I'm working with both the vb.net and the cs.net, versions.
Anyone interested in IssueVision, It can be found here.

Dave, just to let you know, your clickety has a <br> break characters at the end for some reason, and the website does not like them, thanks anyway.

Thanks! Fixed. For some reason, there was a carriage return at the end of the URL that got translated to a <BR> after the submit button was clicked. While modifying the message, the <BR> tag didn't show up, but a carriage return did.

I have reviewed the code on that app (a long time back). From what I recall, they use a pretty standard password + seed hashing structure.

Thanks Steven,
I Started reviewing the code last night and I think they Create a New GUID-based salt and generate a hash of the password concatenated with the salt for a user-specified password. The problem is they left that part of the code out that they used to generate the salt.
I wish they would have documented some of this.
Thanks again

I have a form named frmMain, it's an MDI container (MDI parent). How do i create an MDI child for that form. Child's name should be frmText.
<marquee>Zero
|
|
|
|
|
Depends on whether you are using vb6 or .Net
In vb6, Set the MDIChild property of your child form to true during design time.
For VB.Net, you have to explicitly assign the child to the MDI Parent during runtime, just before the child is shown
Dim frm as frmText
frm.MDIParent = frmMain
frm.Show()

Creating the child form as you created the container. Just select the MDI Parent frmMain add another windows form and call it frmChild, or whatever you like to call it. That's it. Then do you coding from there.

Do you mean like: adding the bitmap to the background image property in the property box?
or
programmatically like: Button1.BackgroundImage = Image.FromFile("Button1.bmp")

Hi, my boss ask me to develop an application that could share the calendar on the network. It is easy for them to browse the calendar when the director want to know which staff is busy or free before he set the appointment. Can any one give me some idea about this application? Should I use windows form application or ASP.NET application to build this application in my local area network?

IMHO, by the requirements your listed, I'd do it in an ASP.NET app. That way you don't have to install anything on the clients and you can access the thing from any machine connected to the network.

I want to develop this application in ASP.NET too but the problem that I face is configuring asp.net in the computer. I have some expereince that I install IIS very properly (I also test it run properly by typing "http://localhost/" in the run dialog box) then I install VS.NET 2003. But when I create ASP.NET web application it display error message Visual Studio .NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running ASP.NET version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET Web applications or services I try to read and solve the problem by read Ms knowledge base but I could not solve the problem. Do you have any idea about that?

IMHO, VB.NET and SQL would be the better choice. Even though VB6 is still around, there's lots of code you have to write in VB6 that already comes written for you in the .NET BCL.

If I choose SQL server, I worry when I deploy an application to the client machine. I don't kown which is the best method that I sould deploy SQL server to the client machine.

Oh! You didn't specify this little tidbit. Are you saying that each client will keep it's own data locally? Each client machine will not share it's data with every other machine in a common database?
If this is true, then you could use MSDE or Access. In my opinion, MSDE is a better choice than Access. If you have to upgrade to a central SQL Server system, you won't have to rewrite your SQL code like you would if you used Access.

According to my plan, I have to establish a SQL server database on the server. Then each client must store the information on that database because the information is not private. The information is the schedule for each person to set out when they are free or busy. It is easy for the other people (espeically Program Director) to check before they made a cotact whether it is possible or not (whether the person we need to contact is free or busy).
Do you think it is possible to do that? Using VB.NET and SQL server, but I'm worry at the time that deploy an application to the user. I'm not sure how to do that!!

Wait a minute. You just switched to another application. Now your talking about a scheduling app where if someone arranges a meeting, they can first check to see if the attendee's schedules are free?
There's already off-the-shelf applications that can do that without you spending months of development time on it. It's called Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook. Barely any deployment is necessary if the client machines already have Office installed.
