I have a multiline edit box with scrolling vertical bars. The user sometimes types lots of text in this edit box. I want the user to know where the end of each page is. So I want to say something like
if this is the 50th line of the edit box
then insert the text 'End of Page' and
make this text smaller and bolder in color
I know how to find every 50th line of text. My question is, how can I change the font for just one line of text in a multiline edit box?
Any response any one can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Erich J. Ruth

You should use the Rich Edit Control instead of the regular Edit control.

Hi,
--> I cannot use memory DC to fix this - I don't have enough time to implement a complicated
solution I was looking for a *simple* (refresh ordering) solution..
I have been implementing a sound effects proccessing program for my degree. The program makes use of controls
as effect instances. There are also frame controls which provide a border for each instance and a single "Network Area" control
that defines the region where effects can be placed. Each of these controls is a CStatic Picture control.
Connections between modules are drawn using DC commands.
My problem:-
When the user moves an effects module I have to update the module position.
I then redraw the Network control and then redraw the connections on top directly to the DC.
This all works fine but causes an extreme amount of flicker in the effect module controls (these are positioned
within the refreshed area) and their frames.
I think it is to do with this - when the Network area is refreshed all controls within that region are refreshed again
causeng the flicker. I have seen a solution to use ValidateRect but I don't know if this applies in my case (and I
can't seem to get it to work anyhow) !
Please could someone tell me where I am going wrong as I am fairly new to windows programming..
Thanks.

You can try to set WS_CLIPCHILDREN to the parent window. This will not invalidate the child windows when drawing/invalidate the parent client area, but you still will have flicker when drawing the connections.
If you want to get rid of the later too, then the memdc solution is simpler (!)

Hi...
The function _SHELL_CallDll is used in VxD to call a 16-bit DLL function. Can we use this function to call a 32-bit DLL?
Thanks!
|
|
|
|
|
Nope, a VxD can only call a Win16 DLL. On my last project at my last job, we were adding a GUI interface to control a VxD, and according to our 2 VxD experts, the GUI had to be entirely Win16 code.

I am converting a Perl script to a C++ Class. A function requires files to be tested as to whether they are Text files or a Binary files.
Is there a method for testing a file on a windows platform?

Hi
Just use a CFile and read it. Go through the data using isalnum and as soon as you get a FALSE return and it is not a carriage return or line feed you'll know it is binary.

I want to popup keyboard for entering the passwaord when the user hits password button.
I would like to know if I can find KeyBoard control as an ActiveXControl.
Or you can suggest me different approach if you have one.

Has anyone tried something like this? I've looked at the MSDN and their own example fails
to work. It gives me an error about the function not being found that I am attempting to run.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I read the Codeproject's DeskBand article but not found in detail..can you provide me some links that provde indepth article with examples of Band in IE4.x or later.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Do Direct Hit or Yahoo toolbar are based on Band if not how they do this? Do you have any example...or may be link?
Thanks a lot.

Sarose,
I don't know what Direct Hit is? I have never seen or heard of it before. For the Yahoo Toolbar, I believe it is is just an ActiveX control which is attaching a toolbar to the Application. It does not support IDeskBand, so it must be attaching a toolbar to the window via some other means.

Hello!
Given a LOGFONT face name (i.e.; 'Times New Roman'), I need a way to programmatically determine its equivalent system file name (in this case, it is 'times.ttf').
Any help is greatly appreciated

It's driving me insane! I'm about 20,000 lines of code into a huge project and I'm getting really tired of deleting all those "TODO: Add you blah blah blah here" everytime I handle a message through classwizard. I looked everywhere in VS, I checked MSDN, no mention of it. It's probably really obvious or not doable at all.
I know there is an option to turn it off at the start, if only...<grin>

Tools->Options-> uncheck the code comments, in the bottom section.
|
|
|
|

That wont work! That only turns off the code comments when your using intellisence (the drop downlist).
The way to get rid of the stupid comments is a simple, but boring hack:
1. Find MFCCLWZ.DLL in the MSDev98 sub directory.
2. Open with VisualC as 'Resource'
3. Edit "STRINGARRAY" and "SRCDATA" to your liking
BTW: Back up the origional, I've never tried this but it should do the trick!
Hope this helps...

Aren't the code comments an option when starting a project? If so, there must be a setting in one of the project files that you could fix...

Hi,
I have to draw bitmaps who represent cross section of steel beams.
I can to that with the resource editor of Visual C++.
But I want to know wich tool is available to add cotation mark with arrow to my bitmaps.
I can do that with the resource editor but it is manual.
I know I can use AutoCad, but it is too expensive.
Do you have atool to suggest ?
Tahks

My app generates HTML reports, and displays them in IE5. What I now need to do is to display the report in IE5, and THEN print it / press print in IE5.
Does anyone know how please???

You need to use the IWebBrowser2 interface.
Call the method ExecWB with these parameters:
ExecWB( OLECMDID_PRINT, OLECMDEXECOPT_DODEFAULT, NULL, NULL );

Great! Thanks I'll try that....

Hi folks,
I'm hooking around CHTMLView class in an app to display some CHM/ITS files, but can't change the IE default context menu or even disable it at all. I'd like to show another menu instead.
2nd. How is it possible to Navigate to the "Home" html page in a CHM file. This works fine with the "....::/" syntax if there is a default.htm file in the compiled file, but not when the def page has another file name. Any hints very appreciated.
