Hello there experts!
Im currently working on my first .Net application where i visualize some FEM calculations using VTK(visualiztion ToolKit).
Im using .Net and WINAPI as GUI.
But now I want to build an standalone application and really dont have any ideas on how to do this. So I dont really know what to look for on the web.
I have build an version by setting the build mode to Execute, and I guess that this version requires the dll files if it was to run on another computer? If that is the case I want to make an install/uninstall application that installs these files. Any suggestions?
And finally dear friends, How to I build an static version so that I dont need any extra files?
Regards
Peter

I would like to create a "dll" using 'C' language and
MS Visual Studio.NET 2003( .NET Compact Framework ).
I want to use this dll in my C# apllication.
As a novice in using MS Visual Studio.NET 2003 and
.NET Compact Framework, I have no clue how this can be done.
Could you please suggest me a good starting point for my task.
What is the procedure I need to follow.
Kindly let me know.
Cheers,

You must use eVC4 with SP3 or SP3 to do this. VS .NET cannot create native applications for mobile devices, only managed ones.

Hi everyone,
I am using the following code to read the contents of a text file:
File1.Open "\My Documents\BARCODES.csv", fsModeInput
myarray = File1.InputFields(3000)
For I = 0 To 2999
mystring = myarray(I)
If mystring = stringSelection Then
'Now get the current index to determine which site has been selected
SelectedIndex = I
End If
Next
File1.Close
The above code works just as I need it to work. ie. the text file is searched through for a matching string. However, how would I get it to work if I didn't know the number of InputFields? How would I determine this?

I've developed a game using Appforge Crossfire Version 5.1.1. I'm using both VB.Net and Crossfire for game Development. The gae that I have developed works fine when I run it for debug purposes. The game is written for the Nokia N-Gage, when I compile and try to package it up for depolyment I get an error saying that dynamic handling is not supported. Is their a way that I can get arround this problem and alternative code that will achieve the same results as Addhandler. Please help!!!

I am developing a dialog-based application for Windows CE that needs to create controls dynamically when the dialog get created. I chose to create the controls in the WM_CREATE message handler of the dialog and so I trap the message by the macro ON_WM_CREATE of MFC and add the code.
int CMyDialog::OnCreate(LPCREATESTRUCT lpCreateStruct)
{
if (CDialog::OnCreate(lpCreateStruct) == -1)
return -1;
// TODO: Add your specialized creation code here
m_edit.Create(WS_CHILD | WS_VISIBLE | ES_LEFT ,
CRect(10,10,50,30), this, IDC_EDIT2);
return 0;
}
Nothing happened. So I the line ( right before the line m_edit.Create...
MessageBox(_T("OnCreate()"));
to the OnCreate() method and watch if the method get executed. Strangely No message box displayed that means the OnCreate method didn’t get executed yet. Why? Again I override the virtual function WindowProc of the CDialog class to watch if the message WM_CREATE is sent to the dialog.
LRESULT CMyDialog::WindowProc(UINT message, WPARAM wParam, LPARAM lParam)
{
// TODO: Add your specialized code here and/or call the base class
if(message == WM_CREATE)
MessageBox(_T("WM_CREATE"));
return CDialog::WindowProc(message, wParam, lParam);
}
Nothing happened too, and that means the WM_CREATE message is never sent to the Dialog window. So what is wrong with this the framework.

This behaviour is by design. You should probably be intercepting WM_INITDIALOG (OnInitDialog) instead.

Thank you João Paulo Figueira.
Yes, I tried OnInitDialog() before and it worked. But I need the WM_CREATE message. And also the document for EVC still says that the OnCreate is still supported. Any one know??

OS:WIN CE
DEV:eVC++ ADOCE MSSQL

Do you get a proper value from COLUMN_NAME ? Note that DATA_TYPE is a numeric value.

I'm trying to compile a simple nothing wizard generated app with EVC 4.0 (with EVC4 SP2 applied). This project works just fine in EVC 3, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.
Here is the compile error I get:
C:\Tests\Embedded PDA\TryAgain\TryAgain.rc(11) : fatal error RC1015: cannot open include file 'afxres.h'.<br />
Error executing rc.exe.<br />
I've tried changing the include directories to point at the PPC 2003 SDK but it still doesn't compile. I guess it's better (or at least different) because before it was complaining about not finding AYGSHELL.H.
I know it's probably something simple, but it's gotten the best of me. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't seem to help.
Thanks for any help,
Mike

Hi,
I'm pretty new to CE and have just started writing an app for a board with has a flash disk. I'm wondering how (if possible) to move the object store so that it resides on the flash disk.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello,
A small question:
What happens with timers running in an app when the device goes into suspension and then wakes up?
e.g. A timer that is fired every 2 minutes, the timer has run for 1 minute when device goes into suspension.. When the device wakes up, will that timer fire its event after 1 minute (the remaining time when device got suspended) or 2 minutes (its actual fire interval) or another time-interval (depending on time device was suspended)??? or will the app keep firing the events while the app is suspended?
Thanks for any help...
Greetz,
Davy

You can check it yourself: make a small application wich fires a timer (every 5 minutes for example) and there, open a file and print the current time. Run your app and test it with suspension mode...

Hi All,
Here I'm facing a problem in PocketPC2003 that, when I'm going to Ping a URL using InternetOpenURL() API then it is getting success but I'm actually not connected to the Internet. Can anybody tell me how to Ping an URL without using InternetOpenURL()to know internet connectivity in the PocketPC2003.
Any kind of answer is most welcome.

You can use either SQL CE or "Pocket Access". The first is directly supported by .NET CF, so you will find classes to use this engine. For "Pocket Access", you will have to purchase a library from In The Hand[^].
