First thing I noticed and have to question is your choice of operators when concatenating strings.
&=
I may be wrong, but in most languages this is not used to concatenate strings, but rather it's a bitwise AND assignment.
Try using +=
This looks like ASP or something so it may very well use different operators for concat.
Assuming you used the right operator, the first line...
Why does it have javascript ???
I would suggest either getting rid of it completely or adding a semi colon and see what happens.
javascript would become javascript:
It appears as though your code is being directly assigned to an event handler, so I can't see any reason why a javascript: protocol would be needed.

I dont know why the : doesnt show but its really here in our application.
For the rest it's because the onClick must be assigned at run-time because the controls are not here until then (we are binding image to a Datalist).
Anyway we think we have find a way to resolve our problem. It appears it was an update with JScript or something similar.

Hi,
I am trying to download a file from server using WebRequest object. The following is my algorithm.
1. Create a WebRequest object
WebRequest req = WebRequest.Create(<url>);
2. Set the method to the request object
req.Method = "GET";
3. Set the current user credentials
req.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
4. Get the response
WebResponse res = req.GetResponse();
5. Get the response stream
Stream inStream - res.GetResponseStream();
6. Save the stream to the local file.
GetReponse takes lot of time and I want to optimize the same. Can anyone suggest me what settings I can make so that I can reduce the time. I will be downloading the files from within the intranet.
Thanks for any suggestions

Hi is there any way that we can select or unselect single or multiple cells in a HTML Table by clicking on the cell. if any body knows any example or any thing helpful about this please reply me.
thanks
do it man

Well,
Just give ur specific purpose.
I have one proposed solution:
1). Set a check box to each cell , and on checking that javascript function will call to change a color.
2).You can set a top check box to check all the check boxes and hence colors to each cell.
Any systematic work reflects its significance for a long time, Thogh I m not totally against "The Prototyping".So let's discuss in depth.....

If you mean selection which can be then copied into clipboard, then I would look into using something like:
var obj = document.getElementById('my_table_row')
var tr = obj.createRange();
tr.select();
You will have to play around with this code, but it should give you a general idea as to how to accomplish selection.

Hi there,
I need to submit an XML string as a parameter to a URL. The web server will then process this parameter and return to me a response XML string.
How should I approach coding this so I can save the returned XML in an ASP variable / form input element??
I am using ASP/vb script.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like homework to me
You haven't even the slightest clue?
Heres a starting tip:
Pass the XML string to script using either GET or POST.
<form action="some_script.asp" method="post">
<input type="text" value="Here is an XML string" />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
<form />

You obviously didn't understand my problem. Posting an XML string is not an issue. I need to figure out a way to trap the http response (which is XML).
Currently the XML response is returned to the browser by the web server and displayed. I want to store this response in a variable so I can manipulate it using the XML DOM.

Hi,
I am writing a web scraping application in C# to download album reviews from allmusic.com. I am using the HttpWebRequest class and need to retrive and parse the HTML for a URL such as http://www.allmusic.com//cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=2:THE|JOSHUA|TREE~T10AC
When sniffing the HTTP request, I can see that the class has encoded the URL to replace the pipe characters ("|") with %7C which is not accepted by the allmusic site.
Is there a way to suppress the encoding in this manner?
Thanks,
A.

We've been extending IE's context menu by putting something in the Registry that points to some JScript that basically does this:
<br />
external.menuArguments.navigate( "http://codeproject.com" ) ; <br />
It has stopped working under SP2 and we figure it's got something to do with the new IE security. Turning off the popup blocker didn't help.
Anyone know what's going on?

Any help is greatly appriciated.

I'm building an online database and I've only just started in programming. I'm using HTML tags:
</select></td>
</tr><tr id="RwSatellite">
and option values, for a table that drops down so the user can select a satellite. After a selection is made I want the page to link to a display of information on the satellite (launch date, payload etc.) Any suggestions? As it is now when a satellite is selected it just links to another web site that I didn't build that's related to satellites. I did that intentionally because I wasn't sure how to start building the data base. I want to learn VB.NET and use operators for some fairly complex computations later but for now I just need to complete the front end to create a composite of basic data. How do I 'link' the selected object from the table to the actual data? I don't know terminology at all so I apologize. If you want (whoever answers this) I'll provide the link to my site. It's quaint but it's a start.
Thanx so much in advance,
Beams

ou will probably want to fill your combobox/drop down list using the serverside technology of choice.
I hate VB, so i've long since switched to PHP, this is what it would look like in PHP.
<select <code>onchange</code>="location.href='sat_list.php?pkid='+this.options[this.selectedIndex].value">
<?
$res = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM satellites');
for($i=0; $i<mysql_num_rows($res); $i++){
$row = mysql_fetch_array($res);
echo '<option value='.$row['pkid'].'>'.$row['name'].'</option>';
}
?>
</select>
What this code is doing is basically pulling your list of satellites from a database table and iterating each and outputting the name and pkid(Primary key - uniquely identifies any record within a table).
The pkid is used to indicate which satellite a user is interested in. What happens is most interesting inside the onchange() event.
Everytime someone changes a selection in the drop down list, it refreshes your current page or jumps to a different webpage used to display individual records (I personally like to keep all of my INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, VIEW actions within a single file).
The script (see boldified code section) is not called normally however, instead we are also passing it a PKID using the GET method. Now the script you call in the onchange() event has the ability to determine exactly what satellite your visitor is interested in. So it's really a trivial matter of selecting that specific record and displaying as desired.
$pkid = (int)$_GET['pkid'];
$res = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM satellites WHERE pkid = '.$_GET['pkid']);
$row = mysql_fetch_array($res);
echo 'Satellite Name: '.$row['name'].'<br />';
echo 'Satellite ID: '.$row['pkid'].'<br />';
echo 'Satellite Location: '.$row['loc'].'<br />';
...etc and so on
HTH
Cheers

Hello, I have been tasked with getting a disclaimer on a page along with an attached database. So when the user accesses my webpage he will say yes he agrees thereby capturing his IP address and the date. If he says no nothing happens. I was told that ASP has does this very well. I was wonder if someone could give me some code or direct me to get me started.
Thanks.

I cant figure out how to make the background image smaller to fit inside the window. I'm doing it in CSS and here is what it looks like right now:
<body style="background: url(G:\My Documents\RyanKlein.com\images\cs10.jpg); background-attachment: fixed; background-position: center center;">
Can anyone tell me what tag it is to make it so it will automaticly resize the background?
Thanks much,

Hello everyone!
Does anybody has a full RegEx in Javascript to test http urls?
Tnx!

Yes, thanks, I know the page, it has great RegExs, but I was looking foward for something more 'Standard', like from w3.org, or IEEE, or so.
Because that expression isn't at all accurate for the use I want to give to it.
For example: http://HelloMyNameIsMariano matches with it. I'm looking for expression for Internet URL Addresses.
Thanks anyway. What I'm doing now is a System.Net.WebRequest, that way I can be sure the address is good and exists!
Bye!!!
