Hi,
Actually what I want to do is a little different. I have cds that are already made and I want a windows based program to run when a cd is inserted into the drive. I cannot put anything else on to the cd. I need to start a program of my own. Its a bit like when you put a cd in when using Windows XP. A window is displayed asking you what you want to do ie play it or do nothing. Except I will be running the program under windows nt and windows 2000. Hope I've made scense

Hmmm....now I understand exactly what you want to do but I’m not sure how to make it happen.
There are some very intelligent people in this User Group. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.
If I find any useful information while I’m trying to figure out how to AuotRun my html I'll let you know.

Hi, trying to send a defined type on the serial port, to do that I need to access the bytes for each value in that type.
Lets say I want to send a variable of this type as binary/byte data:
Type test
v1 As Single
v2 As Single
v3 As Long
v4(4) As Single
End Type
How do I get the individual bytes to send, in total 28 bytes in the example abow? Is there a whay to convert this type and others to byte arrays?
And then when recieveing, lets say a single float in binary as 4 bytes on the serial port, how can I transforme that 4 byte array to a single value in visual basic?

Is there any built in function in "VB Script" or user code to extract substring from a line where each substring is separated by a delimeter like coma (",").
eg: str="subOne,subTwo,subThree"
im looking for a function like this XXX(str,2) should return "subTwo".
Please note i wanted to do this in VB Script
And also I dont want to use Split() function since i wanna this in visual test 4.0 and Split() is not available there.
Thanks in advance.

|
|
|
|
No, there is no function like you describe. If you can't use Split (the common solution to what you want), then you'll have to write the function yourself and either return all of the substrings in an array of strings or return just the one you want. It's up to you how you write it...

you need to find your first delimiter's index
make a new substring using the aboves delimeter's index + 1,
search the new string for your next delimiter
then repeat as much as needed

Hey,
I found a component here[^] for using FTP in VB.NET.
I have written a recursive loop to look through a directory and upload the files.
My problem is that you need to change to a directory (Using folder name on FTP only not having a full path) on one pass, then change to a sub folder on the next pass and so on, this ends up uploading this original folder structure:
Parent
------ Folder 1
----------- Sub Folder 1
------ Folder 2
----------- Sub Folder 2
into
Parent
------ Folder 1
---------- Sub Folder 1
---------------- Folder 2
--------------------- Sub Folder 2
So after ending one branch its doesnt go back to the root and start the other branch, As because Sub Folder 1 has no childnodes it should go back to the root and create the recursion of the Folder 2 branch, but it just recurses all the way through in one branch.
Is there a way to upload a single folder only, in this case the Parent folder, or a way to solve my problem?
Thanks for your time
Chris

Without seeing your code to walk through and duplicate the directory tree, there is no way anyone can solve your problem. But, I will tell you that your not setting the current directory properly on the copy your making. Remember "CD .." changes the current directory to its parent.
FTP does not allow for transfering of an entire directory structure. Your application has to walk the tree and rebuild it itself.

Thanks i have emailed you the code, was a bit much to post here.
Thanks for your time

I've got it, but in the future, post the code here, not to my personal email. I've barely got any time to do stuff with my girlfriend let alone look at everyones code that sends it directly too me. Besides, posting it here will give other people a chance to take a look at your problem in the event I go on vacation and ignore my Inbox and work life for a week or two...

I seriously doubt any translator exists. Simply because C++ is a much lower level language that does not translate statement for statement to any flavor of VB. What VB does in one statement can take C++ an entire page. On top of that, VB doesn't have to ultimate flexibility C++ does.

I am trying to make an OCR .what should be the code in VB for removing noise levels from a document.

OCR in VB. ROTFL
You can see some noise removal filters in my image processing code articles, assuming you're using VB.NET, and assuming it has the same capabiities as C#. If not, you'll need to move to an actual programming language to do this with any degree of efficiency.
