I do not know of a way to hide processes (those items on the Processes tab) shown by Task Manager. Why do you need this functionality?

"Run in background" is a phrase not used with Windows since it is a multitasking OS.

This sounds very suspicious. Can you explain why this should not be considered a virus, worm, or trojan horse?

Have you seen EasyCafe, an application to manage PC room ? I want to write an application same it.
When I use Ctrl+Alt+Del to show Task Manager, I don't see it in Task Manager. So I cannot kill it.

As I understand it, to trap the Ctrl+Alt+Del keystroke combination requires the creation of a custom GINA DLL.
For Windows 9x and Windows Me, you can use SystemParametersInfo() to trick the system into thinking that a screen saver is running.

The solution trapping Ctrl+Alt+Del (using SystemParametersInfo) is not appropriate for my application. Because it will also trap Alt+Tab.
My application allows users :
- kill other applications (using Ctrl+Alt+Del)
- switch among applications (using Alt+Tab).
I'm finding the way to solve this.

I have just known the way to hide an app on Win 9x/Me :
Call RegisterServiceProcess of kernel32.dll
|
|
|
|
|
That function registers or unregisters a service process. I'm not sure how that compares to hiding an app on Win 9x/Me.

I've just written a program in WinMe. And I saw that it works well :
My program is not shown in Task List.

Perhaps you should write an article on your findings so that everyone can benefit.

OK. I will write an article about my findings.

Whats wrong with my code:
Control ^editText = gcnew frmChangeTxt::txtChangeText();<br />
this->lblText->Text = editText->Text;
I'm using it to try and access the text in text box 'txtChangText' from form 'frmChangeText' and make the label in the main form 'frmMain' that text from the textbox. I'm doing this from a button control in the mainform by the way.
If doing it this way isn't possible, can someone tell me the right way?
Thanks in advanced.

This doesn't look like VC++ code. Am I missing something?

Hi All,
Seasons Greetings!!
Im Mirza Faizan, currently a trainee at ELECTRONICS AND RADAR DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT, DRDO, Bangalore. In my academic project, I have to develop a Device driver Hardware Acceptance Test for a communication card for Control and Display Unit of a RADAR. I have seen your project on www.codeproject.com, and immediatelt realized that you can be my help!! plz plz plz...
My problem is that I am developing GUI for the driver in VC++. And I am having trouble with the following thing:
1) I have to develop a GUI in which POST is done for 24V, 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V.
*If the check is successful, then the button should become GREEN and the caption on the button should be 'OK'.
*If the check is failed, then the button should become RED and the caption on the button should be 'FAILED'. And when the user click on button, a dialog box should appear telling him what to do next.
2) Please also do tell me how to declare variable (not attached with the controls, but extra variable where I should store values of voltages which are checked.
3) Please tell me how to add C,C++ code in the GUI developed in VC++. I mean, Im developing GUI in VC++ and writing device driver in C, C++
Please help me with this. I'll be highly obliged with this kind act of yours.
Regards

You are working as a Trainee means you are supposed to be given training and guidance on what to be done.I myself feel sad and shame to see someone representing DRDO crying of not knowing how to start
a RADAR supporting software, which has life of many soldires in its(software's) hands.
This is why DRDO of India is called White Elephants. If my knowledge is right Electronics and Radar Development Establishment comes under DRDO.
Don't think I am bashing on you because you have doubt on VC++ but its on the authorities who doesn't seems to assist the trainees like you.

You are right Mr. Suhredayan, but still your comments hasn't solved the problem. It would be much better if we stop criticizing the system and start action!! How easy is it to criticize?? Just some lines of mails....!!! Dont forget its DRDO which has developed missiles like AGNI, TRISHUL, AKASH, PRITHVI and so on... Its DRDO which is developing Avionics and Electronics Counter Measures (ECM) for Fighter Aircrafts. When will we Indians start thinking like developed countries like Americans who say "ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY" By giving plain criticism and NO answer to problem, even YOU stand among those WHO ARE JUST GOOD AT CRITICIZING!!!

Hi,
I am trying to use the getprocessesbyname manged extension from the system:diagnosics system.dll
from .NET with C/C++
Do any one knows away to get for a speacific process name how many process currently running and then use it in an unmanage project.
I don't want to define it with complier \clr and then use #pragm unmange and mange,tried it already and the rest of the project didn't compile.
And the only way I had luck of using it by creating a manage project and
using this code:
[C++]
#using <mscorlib.dll>
#using <system.dll>
using namespace System;
using namespace System::Diagnostics;
int main()
{
//process running eyal.exe
Process* localByName[] = Process::GetProcessesByName(S"eyal");
}
I just want to be able to run only one program eyal.exe ,and if try to run more then one will have a message and then terminate the second process.
Thanks
Will be glad to get any help.

Its not a good idea to check your process is runnung with you process name. It will be a disaster if the system on which your application is running has another process with the same name but from a different vendor.
To accomplish singleinstance ther are different other approaches. One of the famous article is from Joseph M Newcomer

Why would you want/need to? You can increase the process' priority, but to make it dominate over the OS would not be a wise thing to do.
