You don't have to call any conversion functions as VBScript does not know any types other than variant (see also VBScript Data Types[^]) and any subtype conversion can be done implicitly.
MyString = "2"
MyDouble = MyString + 2
However if you want (or need) to explicitly cast the variant subtype you can do so by using the VBScript conversion function (see also section Conversions in VBScript Features[^]).
MyString = "2"
MyInt = CInt(MyString) + 2

Can anyone tell me how can I clip text from a textbox into the clipboard
|
|
|
|
|
The System.Windows.Forms.TextBox has built-in clipboard support. You can copy selected text to the clipboard simply by calling TextBox.Copy() .
You can also copy text to the clipboard with out using a TextBox with the System.Clipboard class.
string text = "this is some text";
Clipboard.SetDataObject(new DataObject(DataFormats.Text, text));

Hey everyone,
I have a windows form that has a combo box that is populated from a MySQL database table field called name. When the selectedindexvalue of this combo box is changed, I am trying to get it to fill in the address, phonenumber, city, and state. It fills the combobox correctly, but when the selectedindexvalue is changed, the program throws an error. I am new to MySQL so its probably me. If someone could help me figure this out I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,

Uhh... would you mind trying that again?
You want to include what at runtime? What are you trying to do exactly, and with much more detail than this?

In our shop two of us have been creating applications using CrystalReports in VB.NET. The development and live environment are both XP SP2.
While testing the applications on our own development systems, everything worked / tested out fine. Upon implementation on the client's PC, we're encountering errors.
The first error was:
File or assembly name CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
We set the "Copy Local" property of the following references to "True":
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
CrystalDecisions.ReportSource
CrystalDecisions.Shared
CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms
After rebuilding the project and testing, this error no longer is a problem.
The next error we received was:
File or assembly name CrystalKeyCodeLib, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
We added CrystalKeyCodeLib to our references and this solved this error.
Next we're seeing these errors:
COM object with CLSID {D97C7D7D-FF5B-4802-BE3F-D8748E986F7B} is either not valid or not registered.
Load crpe32.dll failed.
Cannot find KeycodeV2.dll, or invalid keycode.
We've been searching BusinesObjects.com, MSDN.com, various message boards and Google, without much luck. Maybe someone can give us some insight on the steps needed to implement a project using Crystal Reports to help avoid many of these errors. For example, what references should we include and are there any property settings that we might need to change as a default procedure when implementing.
Thanks in advance for any input you can give us.

I didn't receive a reply regarding any insight on this problem, but I wanted to post what I found as a solution to my questions.
If you're having the same issues I listed above and found this post while searching for help, the following link should help answer your questions regarding deployment issues and the merge modules that are needed.

Also, if you find that this helped and would like to continue this post to ask any questions on the information and how we implemented our projects, please don't hesitate to continue this thread.

Hi,
How could I resize my VB form upto fixed width and height.
Thanks
Be simple and Be sample.
|
|
|
|
|
if you want to do it at runtime - form.Size = new Size(100,100);
if you want to do it do it at design time there is a form property - FormBorderStyle
set it to fixedSingle
|
|
|
|
|
I want it to be do in runtime, I write the code in form resize method as
if (me.width <= 1000) then
me.width = 1000
end if
if i gave like this, while runtime user can able to resize the form width upto less than 1000 but after removing mouse button it will set to size width as 1000,
I don't want like this, i need form should be resized only upto its width 1000.
Be simple and Be sample.
|
|
|
|
|
|
So the user can resize the form but it must not be resized bigger than 1000??
try swapping the smaller than sign to a bigger than sign -
if (me.width >= 1000) then
me.width = 1000
end if

How can i export sql database to msde database through dts over network.when i tried through dts it didn't showed me msde instance.Is there any special way of installing msde
|
|
|
|
|
As far as I can remember, MSDE doesn't have that functionality.
Another option would be to script the entire SQL database using the Enterprise Manager in SQL Server. Then the copy the resulting file to the other machine and execute that script to recreate the database. Warning -- if you have mountains of data, the script will be HUGE.

can anyone point me in the right direction to get this accomplished?
I have an app that I am working on and it manages shoutcast stations and there info. Currently when they click preview on one of the stations it loads the station in winamp and plays it.
What I need to do is make it so when they click preview the shoutcast stream is play from within the app and not launching winamp.

Hi to all! I am a novice trying to learn VB.net 2003. I am currently taking a course in the subject at a local university. What I am trying to do is create a combobox similar to the ones in online forms where the states are listed and say you want Kentucky, all you do is hit the K key twice and Kentucky apears. This has stumped our professor. He is use to VB 6.0 and VB.net is different in this area I am told. I am sure that everyone here has alot mof experience with VB code and I appologise for this thread but I want to learn this. Can some one please help. here is my code
Private Sub cboColors_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboColors.TextChanged
'This will allow you to chose the color for the background or the text color.
Dim IntIndex As Integer = 0
Dim blnFound As Boolean = False
Dim strListCompare As String
Dim strTextCompare As String
Do While Not blnFound And IntIndex < cboColors.Items.Count
strListCompare = cboColors.Items(IntIndex)
strListCompare = strListCompare.ToUpper
strTextCompare = cboColors.Text.ToUpper
If strListCompare.StartsWith(strTextCompare) Then
cboColors.SelectedIndex = IntIndex
blnFound = True
End If
IntIndex += 1
Loop
End Sub
THank you all for any help with this.

this is simple, change the dropdownsyle in properties to DropDownList
then it will scroll like you want instead of typeing text.
lol your professor didnt know that?

I am totally embarrassed now. Thank you very much. I see I have a lot to learn as well as my professor. Once again thank you.
