That's what I was looking for. Now if I can just get it to work on std:string I'll be set.

I have a dialog with several CWebBrowser controls and i want to show only one at a time, the rest must be hidden. The user must be able to select the browser to be shown.
I tried using a pointer in the dialog box that points to the currently selected CWebBrowser but when i used ShowWindow to hide the last selected CWebBrowser, i can't use the pointer anymore because it always sends an unhandled exception error when i try to call a function.
What i'm i doing wrong ?. Is there anotehr way to do it ?
Thanks

I have an application where I save files with a unique
suffix, .dan files. When I save a file temp.dan or whatever.dan, the file looks wierd. If I save a word perfect file or txt file, it has a nice looking icon.
I looked under registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and there are directories like HKCR\.txt and HKCR\txtfile that must be associating the .txt with the icon. But how? There is very little information under HKCR\.txt, just a long integer. My question is: how can I associate a unique file suffix with an icon or program (and hence an icon)?
Please, please, any response any one can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Danielle (an overworked graduate student)

Just follow the pattern used by .TXT files.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dan]
@="danfile"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\danfile]
@="Your file description"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\danfile\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\path\to\your\icon.ico"
and so on.

I've been looking into learning OpenGL to learn graphics programming using visual C++. All the sites seem to show it as an excellent method for programming games. However, I just need to design a simple 3D graphics software. Would you still recommend OpenGL for that purpose or is there any better way?
|
|

OpenGL is certainly great way to get yourself into graphics and 3D programming.
It has a mature, concise (but flexible) API, that will give you ease of use
in the beginning and then scales up for power use with more faster and efficient
ways of populating you 3d scenes.
THE book for it is the OpenGL Programmers Reference(‘The Red Book’).
A good website is the Nehe site with loads of tutorials that take you
by the hand from your first opengl window to some pretty advanced topics.
Everything you learn using opengl, as you build your first set of apps, can
easily be reapplied to another 3d api (such as Direct3d).
It is easier going from opengl to direct3d than vice versa,
as gl brings less baggage up front.
The graphics fundamentals are the same no matter which api.

Hi,
I have one splitter window with two child views, if something fails ( b.g. word inplace fail due to Norton Antivirus), then I need to minimize on the views ( to size 0,0), and don´t allow the user to resize it, how can I do that ?, I have tried:
GetReportFrame()->m_wndSplitter.GetPane(0,1)->SetWindowPos(NULL, -1, -1, 0, 0, SWP_NOMOVE | SWP_NOOWNERZORDER);
GetReportFrame()->m_wndSplitter.RecalcLayout();
But don´t works, How can I do it ?, Thanks, Bye !

Could ShowWindow(SW_HIDE) be the solution?

Hola !
Finally I have tried this:
GetReportFrame()->m_wndSplitter.GetPane(0,0)->GetClientRect(R);
GetReportFrame()->SetWindowPos(NULL, -1, -1, R.Width(), R.Height(), SWP_NOMOVE | SWP_NOOWNERZORDER);
GetReportFrame()->m_wndSplitter.RecalcLayout();
And seems to work, I have made class that locks the splitter ( just override Splitter class, and OnMouse move if locked nothing OnLButton and Cursor if locked...) , so the user cannot drag the vertical splitter thing to resize the splitters).
Anyway, muchas gracias !, un saludo

Hello,
How would you check to see if there is a previous instance of your application running? Thanks...

I uninstalled some program in Windows 2000 but it still appears in Add-Remove Programs Control Panel applet. How can I delete this line?
(People don't open Operating Systems Message Board, so I publish this question here).

As I remember, you can delete it from registry here:

Hi,
In a Dialog base Application I'm assigning my dialog box to main-window(in App.cpp::InitInstance())
m_pMainWnd = &dlg;
dlg.DoModal();
Now if in OnInitDialog() method I create one more Dialog Box and calls its DoModal() then I cannot see anything on taskbar and if unluckily that DialogBox looses focus then I've to minimize all window to get that back.
Any suggestions to overcome both of these problems? How can I get Taskbar notification because my application is running and also one DialogBox is getting displayed?
Thanks,

Don't do this in OnInitDialog. In such cases I set timer in OnIntiDialog to some small time interval and continue operations in OnTimer. Dialog in this case is already active and visible.
