Video trimming and saving

i have used direct show for playing the video file in my project

now i want to perform video editing(video trimming) in my project so i search n i found direct show media editing service but on thier msdn site it is showing that this api is not supported. so i am confused about from where should i start . if it is deprecated then what is the alternate api for performing video trimming..
