Hi,

I have windows 7 and decent h/w configuration on my dell lappy. I have installed vmware too. I want to work on Ubuntu Unix in vmware. Currently m doing this by just trying Unix and not completely installing Unix in vmware. Whenever i go ahead to install Unix in vmware, it warns me that the installation may erase data on disk.
I am afraid this will flush my windows!
My question here is, is my concern\fear true? or should i proceed installing Unix?
if it doesnt clear data of my windows then which data it clears?
Please help me. And if you have relevent steps to install unix in vmware please guide me.
Thanks... and happy new year!

Make sure you have attached the Ubuntu ISO file in the running VM first and you are not running the CD on your main computer (that will probably format your laptop drive).

Once you have attached the ISO file then everything will proceed in your VM and not on your laptop.
