I know this may not strictly be a coding question, but my laptop restarts randomly. I have an app running and would like to keep it running continuously. I have checked all the obvious settings (no auto updates, sleep timer set to "NEVER" in the power settings). In the worst case I imagine it is a bad part of some sort (processor, RAM, etc).

But I am asking here in case some coders were in the same situation and did something that fixed the issue for them.

If I need a new laptop, any recs would be helpful - looking at a Razer 32GB RAM one but that one is a pretty penny.

Thank you my gurus:)

What I have tried:

I have tried setting the sleep settings so the laptop never sleeps or automatically locks. Power mode is set to "Best Performance"

You are better off asking in a Windows specific (or your lappy manufacturers) website: we are more software development oriented than OS/ hardware support.

But when you do, tell 'em while make and model of lappy, which OS, and which version ... it always helps to have relevant information!

Thank you! This actually helps, there is a setting to disable auto restart when there is a "system failure". One of the things I am wondering is if I can emulate windows on a Linux laptop...in case Linux is more stable for constant running use cases.

You can't "emulate" windows - you could load it in a VM, but then you are running actual Windows so any problems you have now might not go away (and you have to deal with Linux and it's learning curve as well)
Good luck!
