I'm trying to develop a chat support application, where the clients can chat with the customer support executives. The client side will be in the web page, so will be using asp.net for that. But i have confusion regarding the support side, whether to make it as windows application or to do it in ASP. The chat applications i hv seen like google talk, messenger, skype are made as windows applications. Can any one tell me the drawbacks of making such applications in asp.net.Which will be the better option windows application or web?

Solution 1

The only way a chat app can work in ASP.NET is through AJAX. A wndows app is always easier to write and richer than a web app.
