Showing thumbnails in a details view from video and images in the DB

How can I thumbnail my pictures or video clips in details view? In fact I have some clips and pictures in my DB and I want to see thumbnail of them on my page before click on it for show large size.

Also how can I make the page show pictures with the same size?

The answer to both questions is, store thumbnails in your DB. Creating thumbnails of video clips in particular, takes too long to do it on the fly, but even images, to create a thumbnail, you need to load the full image into memory. So, you create the thumbnails first. You create them all the same size, then they will show the same size. You can create different sizes and size them with CSS, but again, that means you're loading bigger images than you need to.
