i have tried to write a code that reads a computer port but it does not work for me.

You will have to provide some of the code, and explain what is happening, or what isn't happening that you expected to happen.

We can't read minds here - well, not all of us - so we do need a some information other than "it does not work"!

Provide a small fragment of the code - enough to show the problem - and use the "Code Block" widget to preserve the formatting. Use "Quick Preview" to ensure the indentation is correct, and everything is there, or some people will not read the code at all!
