How to check existing div

hello sir,
I have created user list with multiple div in main div. When i click on div(user) i want to open 1 seperate div but if again m click on same div new div has been open so plz refer me how can i check dat existing div condition..?

please check this with

$("#id").indexof!=-1

or ==1 //will always true if exist
