BackUp Strategy with Log Shipping

Hi,
I am an Accidental DBA in training.
I got a doubt in Backup Strategy of our Database Servers.

We got log shipping enabled for every 5 minutes from primary server to the secondary server.
We save Logs every morning in a separate server and every week we take a full back up and do the same,
My DBA says it is 'Copy Only' Backup and log backups can not be attached to it (unfortunately he is not experienced in Administration).

Q.Is that true that we can not attach log backups to the Full backup that is done With 'Copy Only' option.
If it is not possible to do so. I think there is no use of those Log backups saving in other place,
and the accurate data will be available only with Primary serveronly.Secondary server doesn't hold data for last 5 minutes transactions.

I believe this is not a safe strategy to follow.

As you have already been doing Log Shipping every 5 minutes, you would lose only 5min of data. As long as you don't shrink logs you will be fine
