Software for requirements management, simple traceability

Ok this is not necessary a programming question. I am creating a Requirements Documentation with cases and procedures and I want to link all of the from requirements to procedures so that we can trace them.

Any of you out there know a open source software to accomplish that?

All I need is to be able link columns in one document to another and I can't use excel cuz cases needs to be linked to the req. and the procedures and excel only let you link to one cell can't do multiple. I hope there is something out which I am missing...

Solution 1

This is commonly used on DOD projects. The most often used standards are 2167 or 610. You might try googling for those specific standards. Since it's defense-related, I doubt there will be any freeware. When I looked myself (several years ago) the software was expensive and crappy.
