How to modify the web page that configures your mail signature.

Introduction

If you want to modify the HTML signature in your e-mails but the options Outlook offer you are not enough to get the result you want this can help you.

As an example, you can't put an image left to your text using only Outlook.

Editing directly the HTML file will give you much more flexibility than the one offered by Outlook while editing signatures.

Background

You will need to know how to use HTML or any HTML WYSIWYG editor out there.

How to do it

  1. Prepare your initial signature content using your preferred software (I use the same Outlook signatures application).
  2. Shut down Outlook.
  3. Access the folder where the signatures are stored: c:\Users\YOUR_USER\%appdata%\Microsoft\Signatures
  4. Here you'll find the signature files (if you've created a signature using Outlook the files will be named after the name of the signature).
  5. Edit your signature using any software you are comfortable using.
  6. When you start outlook again you will have your brand new edited signature available.
