Any chances of adding a print link for printer-friendly messages? One option would be to allow all messages in a page to be printed.

Hiya all,
I'm new to this forum/site and was wondering if this is just all windows oriented.... i'm a unix guy myself and was hoping to find anything on that subject.
Is it an idea to start such a thing ?

This site is focused on Microsoft technologies. I guess the furthest in to Unix you'll get is a discussion on Microsoft Services for Unix.

I am sure there are many sites on the internet for Unix developers. None as good as this obviously.

I have noticed, that some questions appear in Visual C++ and asking how to make something in linux (General question).
If you realy want badly to get anser, then try there, but i can't garanture a succsess and you can also get a bad vote.

Hi,
Lot of things here belong to Microsoft Technologies like MFC,VC++,VB,C#,.Net. So,You better search a linux forum. But always we could compare both OS features and equivalent concepts like DLL and Shared Libraries.

I would also be interested to know what versions CP is going to sell. I am interested in getting the standard version.

We've been asking Microsoft pretty much every day for an update and the answer has been "we'll let you know". We'll definitely make a large noise about it as soon as we know. I wish I could tell you more...

Seriously, this has reached the point where this site is now a "last resort" instead of the "first stop" when I need something. Probably not what you have envisioned as a successful business model.
Sure, it costs money to run a site like this. I think everyone understands that. However, you need to have a good balance between flashy ads and usability.
The frustrating thing is that I know there is great content here, so I keep coming back. If what I've experienced today continues, I'm afraid I'll have to look elsewhere or do without.

Chris, thanks for the explanation. In addition to the h/w problem, responsiveness has been deteriorating steadily over at least several months.
codeproject is suggested on various dev related newsgroups, but "thanks, but no thanks" is an increasingly frequent response.
I'm not trying to dig, I just want you to have an accurate picture of reality.
I haven't done any real testing myself, but the note re: DNS sounds plausible. 99% of the many errors I receive navigating to and around codeproject are report as DNS errors.
Good Luck getting everything in order.

I agree with you 100%. It took three tries to open the Codeproject.com home page, and only after waiting a minute and ten seconds. The first two attempts timed out.
Now for some suggested solutions: 1) Pipe Boost (reviewed by Ian Ippolito of PSC (here in Tampa, FL btw) and 2) ASP.NET solution optimized for high volume sites like DNN.
I don't know if Codeproject has considered the Pipe Boost solution reviewed by Ian Ippolito here: http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=7164&lngWId=4[^] but apparently, he loves it. He has some great performance graphs showing performance before & after he utilized the Pipe Boost Solution.
My suggestion, dump the ASP legacy code, and import all your stuff into a DNN based solution. DNN is so much more elegant and is capable of serving any load of users, scaled horizontally across a web farm, whatever. DNN finally has an outstanding forum sub-project (although not quite as cool as this one, it could be). Plus, I am confident all the existing content could be ported to DNN by a relatively small team of properly motivated coders.
My 2cents...
This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. In the event of an actual emergency, this test would have been followed by important news and information. Again, this was only a test.

clicking "sign out" doesn't work for me here - I remain signed in.
I have no other terminal to check, and I am behind a proxy, so this might be a local issue.
This is a public terminal - so if you see me asking programming questions in the lounge, it wasn't me

I noticed that your admin messages have been deleted from thr lounge, at all it kinda annoying in front of all messages, so can you make a separator to separate them ( the admin message and the regular messages ), and please don't delete the message in the C#, and the ASP.NET sections, because really many of the users post there, don't know these rules.

I'd say no. Hopefully the editors will purge those messages. Mind you, got to give the guy credit for the most eloquent worded spam.
