Chris Maunder wrote: The problem is defining, exactly, for every article, what "some way" means.
It took a while for me to realize that just "moving" an article caused it to get the "updated" status. To me, "updated" means that something about the article changed - the text, or the screenshots, or the download. I don't think just "moving" an article should cause it to be "updated".
The idea of separate tabs for "new" and "updated" is appealing, but I would vote against it if it means delaying being able to "subscribe" to an article, which I think is much more desirable long-term. The separate tabs are really low priority compared to that.

Hello,
I suggest, create a new message board type for Windows Workflow/Presentation/Communication Foundation only!
Don't know, which other board is the correct place for question/hints to this theme.

When posting to one of the boards, I received the following error:
Unfortunately it seems that our error handling page has, ironically, an error. It's going to be one of days.
I believe the word 'those' is missing.

But...but...you don't appreciate the double irony in that?

CP Team,
An issue with Profile page entitled "Status?" is reported in Lounge with the permalink as follows:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/View.aspx?fid=1159&msg=2383874[^]
The synopsis of the message is that the profile page is missing the level status like Gold, Bronze etc. While we just were having assumptions based on missing legend text, I felt I would bring this thread to the attention of Suggestions/Bug Reports Team so that a CP Admin can look into it and confirm on the same.

Currently, the Spam and Abuse carry the following tooltips
1) Mark as Spam<br />
2) Mark as Abuse
I guess, Abuse, is more severe than a spam and hence mere marking alone wouldn't be sufficient. A suitable tooltip change like 'Report Abuse' instead of as in (2) would instill a sense of confidence to the user.

The link doesn't report as abuse. It marks it as abuse. The titles are correct in what they do

But maybe threads that keep together regardless of the post count in the settings?

I know, do you know how hard that was to read Seriously, on normal posts that sometimes cross pages it can be a minor chore.

How many did it stop at? Wasn't it something like almost 1,100?

Let's hope that is exceptional.
When it occurs one will probably not want to read it at all, so it could be handy to:
- know it in advance, (how about showing the number of messages at the first message?)
- have a "move to next thread" and "move to previous thread" button.
[ADDED]
People wondering the length of a thread may browse the pages just to find out,
creating unnecessary server load.
How about trying to keep threads on a single page, by:
- not starting one more thread unless it will fit the page
- and for the first thread on a page allow to exceed the requested number of messages
by a small factor (say 2) ?
IMO this would improve navigation and readability.
[/ADDED]
TIA

See subject. This is plenty annoying for those of us who like plain-text emails (i'm assuming it works for HTML-format emails simply because i don't see anyone else complaining about it, though i haven't tested that theory).

Yes I also have the same problem. The text format shows HTML tags.

As in subject!
I get notification emails when someone replies to a forum post but not when someone comments on the article.

After reading (I think it was) Marc's comment about having profile redirects such as http://www.codeproject.com/profile/1796977 I was thinking about the "feature" I've been wanting for a long time, having "proper" urls for the forums such as ~/forums/csharp.aspx redirects to the C# forum.
Also this would help search engines such as Google because they (often?) ignore the query string completely so they can't differentiate very easily between different forums.
I've taken the liberty of putting together some urlMappings since presumably you have a web.config file in which you can use these.
Here it is: urlMappings.xml[^]
|
|
|
|
|
Not a bad idea (and thanks!) but aren't they ignored if you have query strings or even #'s appended?

Chris Maunder
