I love the statistics section. I think it can have some few extra textual information, like:
Total visits
Last 7 days
Last 30 days
Best regards,
Jaime.

maybe a nice little graph showing visit count versus time with a logarithmic time scale?

With all new "web technologies"*, could it be now possible to make the CPHog behaviour the standard behaviour of CP ? The way you can inline-answer to posts is just priceless. I don't have CPHog installed at home, and when I surf on CP from home, I just feel "dough!".
* Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I have no skills in Web development, so I truly have no idea if Ajax and HTML5 and ... can replace Greasemonkey+CPHog

This is Feature #897 on our list, priority "very high"
(Priorities range from "One day..." to "Emergency". "Very High" is just under "Luc, Hans and John are all giving us a hard time about it")

OK, I'll try and convince them. Give me two minutes and I am back.
It was worth a try. You can lower the priority to "Maybe next week".

The forums are my personal hobby. I've been itching to get the time to upgrade them. Shog and David did a great job and stealing his ideas shamelessly is the only way I can express my respect.

I'm honored to be part of that priority.

Yeah. We now belong to the Above-Very-High club. That's quite a responsibility, especially since Hans hasn't been around lately.

Yeah, when a valued member of the team is absent, the rest of us have to increase our own workload to pick up the slack, and it becomes an even more awesome responsibility. Most of the rest of CP is completely unaware that we watch over them with such fervor and dedication, and primarily out of the kindness of our hearts. We're almost like gods to the little people...

I don't remember a John in Star Wars... was he an extra? Or perhaps you are referring to John Williams?

That was Chewie's first name

That is not fair, it hardly ever happens, the three of us ranting on the same subject. Especially since Hans is nowhere to be seen. Can I submit a motion to substitute Sandeep?

Sandeep doesn't have the straight-to-the-bone impatient dismissal of Hans, nor his overwhelming charm and wit.

We're all different; I'm sure he has lots of qualities of his own, we just may have to help him discover which ones work best for you.

just thought you'd like to know that the links in your email blasts and from the site don't work. i originally thought the problem with clicking the links from the email messages was because i wasn't logged in to my Code Project account. but i did that today, and the same error occurs whether i am clicking the link in the email or from the website. that's unfortunate, because i am interested in some of the links that are presented.
here are the ones from today that fail (i.e., messages says site requires login):

Can you please email me the links you're using? I've checked them in my mailout, logged in and not logged in (and they all get checked before they are sent) and they all work quite nicely for me.
Which mail client are you using?

I am running Outlook 2007 & IE 8. i am receiving the Daily News as an email w/ HTML. the links i tried to click on are right under the INSIDER banner, in the advertisements section. when the page tries to open, i get HTTP 403 forbidden message. i get that message on all three ads. this issue is not limited to todays message. other daily news have exhibited the same problem, which is why i tried to login today to see if that was the issue.
THANKS .... Craig

just as a follow-up, links in the other parts of the email such as INDUSTRY NEWS & DEVELOPER NEWS & CODE PROJECT DISCUSSIONS works just fine.
is it because these other links are ads??
|
|
|
|
|
|
Hmmm, I can see that link. Usually, even stuff I want to see gets blocked by the network setup here at my work. Will have to tell IT about this new URL to block.

Hiren Solanki: Dude
Sandeep Ramani: hi
Hiren Solanki: Hows going ?
Sandeep Ramani: great..
Hiren Solanki: k.
Sandeep Ramani: hey i hv written one article on codeproject but it not published yet..
Sandeep Ramani: how to get it publish fast..
Hiren Solanki: it will be published after mentors approves that.
Hiren Solanki: will point you on your mistake first.
Hiren Solanki: so what is title of article.
Sandeep Ramani: how i get to know that whether mentor is looking in article or not..
Hiren Solanki: you will get views count increased.
Sandeep Ramani: article status is : This is an unfinished article
Sandeep Ramani: why so?
Hiren Solanki: when you wrote?
Sandeep Ramani: Last Updated: 2 Sep 2010 Page Views: 6
Sandeep Ramani: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/scripting/SortingTableColumnsJQuery.aspx
Sandeep Ramani: r u able to see it ??
Hiren Solanki: This is an unfinished articleit means .. article is small enough to be published.
Hiren Solanki: just put it in tip/trick.
Sandeep Ramani: ok..
Hiren Solanki: and tell me.
Sandeep Ramani: tip/trick.???
Sandeep Ramani: category of the article??
Hiren Solanki: No.
Hiren Solanki: Article - > post tip & trick.
Hiren Solanki: copy your HTML of article into that.
Hiren Solanki: and delete the article.
Sandeep Ramani: ok..
Hiren Solanki: posted?
Hiren Solanki: 8-|
Sandeep Ramani: nop..
Hiren Solanki: K.
Sandeep Ramani: will do tomorrow..
Hiren Solanki: sure.
Sandeep Ramani: its bit confusing for me now..
Hiren Solanki: what is confusing ?
Sandeep Ramani: why i need to post article in tips / trick there should be some category of that..that i have nt seen any guide line regarding that..
Hiren Solanki: your article is too small so it can't be allowed to be published.
Hiren Solanki: so just put that as a tip/trick.
Hiren Solanki: and inside tip/trick you can put it in category.
Sandeep Ramani: but that should be prompt while i post that also..i was nt aware abt this.. i was thinking that it will take some time so i was waiting for that.. they should prompt author that yr article is small to publish so do this steps..
Hiren Solanki: thats why they told you.
Hiren Solanki: article is unfinished.
Hiren Solanki: either make length of article bigger.
Sandeep Ramani: this status is shown to me while i was editing before publishing it also..
Sandeep Ramani: so how come i know ..
Hiren Solanki: ya that mean the same.
Hiren Solanki: while publishing duplicate i also having same issue.
Hiren Solanki: and i posted it in tip/trick.
Sandeep Ramani: wht ever but i m not happy with this process of publishing article..
Hiren Solanki: will take time to be familier.
Sandeep Ramani: i have nt find this type of criteria any other site ..
Sandeep Ramani: that is also right.
Hiren Solanki: in CP they only allows quality articles.
Hiren Solanki: it should have enough information.
Sandeep Ramani: that is true... but i have also find lots of article that do not have any meaning also..
Hiren Solanki: may be informative.
Sandeep Ramani: ok..
Hiren Solanki: ok. you will love CP.. but takes time.
Hiren Solanki: Thats what i was feeling before.
Hiren Solanki: when i got rejected my first article.
Sandeep Ramani: i dont think so.. right now i hate to do all this..there should be easy process for posting article..whether thy publish or reject our article that is secondary part..but posting must be easy to understand..
Hiren Solanki: ya, i have seen lots of people doing same args. for CP.
Hiren Solanki: and CP is working on that.
Hiren Solanki: chris maunder(cp owner) is aware of that.
Sandeep Ramani: good..
Hiren Solanki:
Hiren Solanki: Let me publish whole Talk to code project.
Sandeep Ramani: do that so that they can get to know about this ..
Hiren Solanki: ok.

I just had a look at the article. It's still in composing state. Until unless your friend does not publish it, it won't be sent to CP Mentors for review such that they can approve.
There is nothing wrong from CP side.

You know, sometimes, it is ALRIGHT to paraphrase. A wall of text hitting the face isn't exactly pleasing.
...byte till it megahertz...
|
|
|
|
|
This is a little hard to parse so correct me if I'm making some wrong assumptions here.
The issue seems to be that if an author posts an article that is too small then it won't be accepted by the members who will ask that the article be posted as a tip instead. This in itself isn't the issue - the issue is that the guidelines aren't clear enough on this point.
Is that the problem? If so, that's easy.
