We work on the basis that the readers here a mature enough not to abuse the system. It's easily broken as you've seen but most of us are programmers, and most of us love what can be done with HTML in the posts.
If a post breaks the forums then usually that person learns and doesn't do it again. If a user breaks the forums on purpose then I can simply force all their posts to have HTML disabled. I'd much rather leave things as they are so that the actions of a few don't screw up the fun for the many.

I also find that big, colourful, animated .sigs are distracting.
I enjoy trying to be creative with my .sigs, but I try to keep them as unobtrusive as possible.

I don't mind them. It's nice to see colours and different size fonts just as long people don't abuse the system, like Chris said.

It's my way of ensuring I have the most articles 
The article was co-authored and Leroy doesn't have a bio, hence his bio and pick don't appear at the bottom. No idea why my name wasn't in the author list. In any case it's all fixed.

It might be him, but he might not have filled out the Biography portion of his profile; and if that isn't filled out they don't get that little section at the bottom.

When someone replies to an article, the article author gets notified.
But there is a small issue.
Most of my older articles were submitted with an email address I don't chk anymore.
Right now article post notify mails go to the email ID associated with the article. But now articles are associated with CP user-ids. Thus I suggest that for article posts. the notify mail should be sent to the email associated with the CP userid associated with the article
