sorry, I don't agree at all. We should not create confusion for the sake of discussion.
what is next? Should we start providing wrong replies on purpose to get more discussion too?

We don't need to start. There are plenty of morons round the forums that do precisely that.

You shouldn't call them morons any more, they stimulate discussion, which is good.

For some reason the InternetExplorer hangs up completely when trying to see code examples in CodeProject and I can't continue (must terminate the IE and start over again)
I tried to upgrade to IE ver 8 but the problem persists.
I do not have this problem from my computer at home.
I have also been in contact with the IT people handling the polices on our servers and there is no intesion to block materials from this site.
Please I take any help I can get...

Is it all articles, or just random ones? Is it constantly repeatable? Would it be possible to enable "Display a notification for every script error" (Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced) just before loading a page and letting me know if anything pops up?
I'm guessing it's either an ad, our google analytics code, or possibly the script that wraps the code blocks to allow them to collapse.

It is constantly repeatable, what I can see the hangup will always happen when I open a page that have a code sample.
I have tested on several of my working colleges computers and so far all of them have the same problem.
The activation of notification error on script didn't make any differens, my guess is that the hangup comes before the errorhandler can present any errors.
After alot of desperate tests like resetting the IE to installation position with Microsoft helptool 'FixIt' I ended up downloading 'Google Crome' today.
In Google Crome all pages are working perfectly.
I still would like to have a solution to the problem becase the site is great but I have a hard time convincing my colleges about that, all i hear form them is 'must be a virus'
Best regards

Hi Singan were you able to get to the bottom of this?
We too are experiencing this issue where IE (7 and 8) hang when browsing pages displaying code examples and images.
The CPU utilization almost maxes out and IE need to be terminated in task manager.
Our environment uses Microsoft Group Policy to control end users IE configuration however *.codeproject.com has been added as a trusted site and is not restricted in any way.
|
|
|
|
|
I'll look into the issue and try and do a workaround.
What I will try and do is disable some parts bit by bit in a process of elimination. For now, can you try browsing an article (with javascript turned on) but replace the www.codeproject... with beta.codeproject and let me know?

Thanks Chris. I browsed to the same link under beta.codeproject with javascript enabled and had the same problem.
In the bottom left of the IE window it is displaying something to the effect of "downloading images / picture 1 of 19..... *.jpeg" just prior to IE hanging.
Other than having cookies and js enabled are there any other IE settings that have to be enabled for viewing the pages?

Can you please try now? Make sure you hit Ctrl+F5 to force a refresh

Hi Chris,
Sorry still the same problem. Both codeproject and beta.codeproject.
Have no idea what would be causing this.
|
|
|
|

I also still have the same problem, doesn't matter if im using "beta.codeproject" or "codeproject".
So at the moment im using Google Chrome to view the pages.
I you like me to test someting please let me know.

If you are running VS 2008 are you ensuring that the projects you download are also VS 2008 compatible?

I'm afraid you're going to have to read the manual.

Would be useful when replying to posts. Sometimes information given to locale specific. So in the forums instead of [Icon] Name
you would see
[Flag][Icon] Name
|
|
|
|
|
That would result in 2 things
1. People lying about their country
2. People judging the question by the poster's country, not by the content of the question.
A bad and unnecessary idea.

Point taken, maybe remove the nationality flag from the user profile then.

Thanks for that on my profile page, but clicking on it takes me to a page[^] which has no description about MVP award.
May be the CP team is just working on it and I caught them even in the middle of an upload, but hey - we're watching!
