And richly deserved in all cases, i hold!

er, well, since it only takes once '5' to turn a post red, surely it shouldn't be too hard a post gray? A post has to be felt fairly strongly about to even get three votes - not to mention three that add up low enough to turn it gray. The increase in gray of late prolly has more to do with strong feelings over the war (and BS trolling...) than anything else.

How about this one[^] then (no need to click, it's the post by Chris Losinger above)? There are many more exceptions like this, and they are becoming more and more common.

It's easier to piss people off than to please them. If I piss person A off for example, he'll go ahead and rate my post a 1. Then it needs only two more people to vote before it turns grey. And since the final score depends on the colour of the medals aka status of those voting, it may be difficult for a post to get out of greydom.
Anyway I just made a small suggestion, nothing too important, and I wonder why I rambled on so much. You do have a good point though.

Hello Everybody,
Each time i post a message on CP... i didn't get any reply from anybody at all for my query... what's going on CP? or we don't have sufficient code masters to slove my query?

That's because you are posting VB questions.

Hello,
Is it matter which type of question you are posting? or you mean to say only VC++ questions are worth to entertain?

Chris means that most of the guys hanging around at CodeProject are C++ or C# programmers. You can count the VB programmers here at five fingers (ok, the only one I know is Paul W )

Isn't having a thread dedicated to VB a proof?

Some would think that being the best about VB isn't so honorable

Let's put a stop to this advertising-on-every-forum buisness and have a forum for programming-only post-in ads.

CodeGuru has file uploads - one per post. This is helpful if a code file is a little too big to sensibly post in answer to a question. As it is right now, we have to either 1) upload it to our web host (which not all of us have), 2)post it directly on the board (if it's text), 3) email it.

Allowing anyone to upload files opens a legal can of worms we're not fully comfortable in opening just yet. We can moderate articles fairly easily, but moderating file uploads for several hundred thousand message postings can get hairy. What happens if someone posts kiddy porn or a virus or whatever? We will be held responsible for it.
No idea how CG gets around this one.

How about uploading for at least Gold members? (ignore the fact, that my status is gold ) IMHO those members are known to be responsible
AFAIK currently only supporters and editors are allowed to upload files, aren't they?

Would you be held responsable if you did not allow anonmous file postings? Your profile of me has enough information to identify me, No? If I posted crap couldn't you turn me in?

The trick is policing it. It's a huge, huge drain on resources (and in fact we simply don't have the resources to do it).

Any way that the mail notification URLs could be changed to open in a new Window?
Particularly want to avoid Hotmails frame? Could a bit of Javascript be used?
Thanks,
Davy

That actually doesn't work with Hotmail. They hijack the entire URL and force you to view it from within their frame.
Ex:
They turn this
<br />
http:
into this
<br />
http:
Jon Sagara

Unfortunately Hotmail is looking for URLs then replacing the link's HREF with their own link which does the frames.
Your own way around is to copy the text of the link and paste that into the address bar of a new window.
