Thanks for the info. I found a later binary in google subversion -- at http://todolistppc.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/TodolistIpaq/bin/Debug/. At least this version doesn't fail when going to Tools/settings.
FWIW, there are a number of UI bugs visible on my axim, perhaps due to the vga (640x480) screen?
The settings dialog has all the controls crammed together so you can't tell what is what, and the cancel button is so small you can barely read the text "cancel". There is no OK button visible at all.
In the main UI, the line at the top that displays the version and date is cut short (I suggest you remove this line anyway, as it just takes away real estate that is needed for the tasks.)
When I display details, the bottom perhaps 5% of the screen shows the name of the task, and then other controls for Time, prior, %, are crammed together and overlapped so you can't see, let alone edit, any of them. Exactly how they are crammed together depends on how you have the font size set (using the "<<" and ">>" buttons), but it's pretty much unusable.
If you would like me to do additional testing on my axim with newer releases, I would be happy to do that.

Don,
Make sure you keep that binary somewhere save, as that is pretty much a live development version. It will NOT work properly in the near future (if you download it again from that location), as there will be unstable development executables there (the 'trunk' is the most current release branch)
The OK button on settings dialog is in the right-top corner, NOT next to cancel where you might be expecting it? Cancel has a problem with buggy smaller font settings (on re-reading I think that would also explain the tiny controls).
I think I have a VGA 640x480 test setup for my device emulator so I'll test the layout on that one too. Possibly the screens/forms have to be redone so they resize properly on bigger screens. Do you run in landscape or portrait mode?
The details pane has a known positioning problem. This gets fix if you activate and deactivate the Input Panel (e.g. keyboard show/hide).
I agree about the line at top with version and date, will probably move that to 'project details' as screen estate is precious (well, except on a 640x480

Don,
Try the exe from here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~fpostma/tdlppc/
(you shouldn't need the dll, it's provided for completeness sake)
That version should have a proper Settings screen (resize the Controls in accordence to the font dpi which is HUGE on a 640x480 pda . Filtering is disabled in that version, since it's not working safely anyway.
(and yes it is a Release build which should run slightly faster)
Note that the above does concern a TEST version, so keep backups of your .tdl files!!!
It is possible that the other forms also need to be made dpi dependant. But I'm of to sleep first

Frans,
Thanks, this version does fix the settings screen. And it does run faster!
The problem with the details pane does *not* go away when I activate and deactivate the input panel. Looks like another font-size/vga problem.
When I return to the settings screen, it does not remember the previous setting. The choices are always set to courier/8/regular. This is not a big issue, I just mention it as a minor bug report.
A suggestion -- make view/details a top level menu item. That way I can toggle between details view, and non-details view (to see the maximum number of items) with a single tap. That would be more useful to me than the "<<" and ">>" buttons, because once I have the font size set as I like it, I am unlikely to change it. So if you need space on the main menu, you could move the "<<" and ">>" items to the view menu, something like "view/increase font size" and "view/decrease font size".
Thanks for your help.

Don,
Can you describe the details pane problem with the version where the settings page is ok? Specifically, do you see most of the pane except tabs or is there more missing??
(trying to determine if my emulator is lying to me

Frans,
It depends on the font size setting. All all font sizes, the controls on the page are overlayed. At larger fonts, the tabs show up, either partially or completely. At smaller fonts, you can't see the tabs.
On the theory that a picture is worth a 1000 words ... I have emailed you images of the screen with various font sizes before and after showing the input panel. I emailed this to the address in your sig. If it doesn't arrive, let me know and I can post it on a site where you can get it.
Thanks.

Received it fine, good thing I was watching the download of the big mail since my spamfilter judged it to be spam
The tabs not showing is fixed in the latest testbuild I've placed at the same link as before. The other fonts cause problems simply 'cos the details form was never designed for those The font really should only be set for the Todolist-control and that control alone, in my opinion.

Excellent stuff - I'm a complete newbie to Windows Mobile stuff but thanks to this thread I've managed to get it running on my axim... excellent work!

I have uploaded a new build. The source code zip file contains the entire source code for todolistppc and a support library. it also has an executable which can be copied onto the pocket pc and used.
please let me know if there are any problems.
|
|
|
|

Oh... what did you change in those? I had already started working with/on the previous source, got to compare them (CTask was most changed, esp. readFromXml needed work)
Since you're here now; what is the name 'Ipaq' doing in this project? I know the reference to a resource with that name caused the previous build not to start. Simply removing it solved the problem, which made me wonder why it was needed
|
|
|

I don't see any .exe in that source zip.
What compiler (version) do you use to compile that solution? My VS2005 doesn't recognize the version, nor does it find the Compact Framework import project your sln mentions (my sln which is a converted one from your 2005 source zip works fine).

Mr. Postma,
I was excited to see a new build of ToDoListPPC. I am not a programmer, and would just like to be able to use this one on my pocket PC. Has Andy given you any help on the new build ? I get the same results from this .exe that I have been getting all along.
Thanks

What result exactly? I still don't see any .exe in the zip file posted so what/how did you test it? (building it isn't exactly trivial I'll tell ya
I do have a working executable which is modified 2.3 version but the program itself has some quirks which make me reluctant to post it as-is. Unless you want it just to VIEW your todo-lists? That should be fine (except for the spurious save-changes dialog)

The .exe I tried was in the ToDoListPPC\Bin folder. It gave some sort of error to do with Ipaq. I didnt build it or anything, I wouldn't even know how to. I have been looking forward to actually doing more than viewing the to do lists though. It would be great to see a working .exe that is almost as functional as the desktop version. I dont know how to help though, although knowing how to program some is an interest of mine.

it looks like something happened to the source zip and the exe is missing, I've sent a new version to codeproject which has an exe in it.
for anyone wanting to get the latest source it is available via subversion at Google code (http://code.google.com/p/todolistppc/)
I am currently adding font selection to the setting dialog.
I am using Sharpdevelop (http://icsharpcode.com/) to build it as I don't have Visual Studio.

The source that is available seems to be missing a reference file. And the file at arcsoft.org.uk is no longer available.
Does anyone know what has happened to this project or know where I can get the complete source to ToDoListPPC?

Hi! Were you able to obtain a copy? If you do, pls send me or tell me where can I get it. Thanks!
I am interested in trying it out if I have chance to have a copy.

Unfortunately, no...
Seems like this project has been abandon, i'll have to post something in the lounge and hope someone has a working source around.

You need to recompile from source after you've remove the reference to an 'ipaq' resource. Program runs fine then but doesn't read any current TDL files, except it's own which is sorta useless
Working on tracking that problem down at the moment.

Anyone getting an error like:
TypeLoadException
Could not load type Arcsoft.Common.IPaq.UI.ArcsoftForm
When running the application?
Anyone got an idea of what could be wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Nevermind, I found a link to the cab files from a few months ago and they installed just fine.

Did you find out the reason for this error?
I've just downloaded the current version I'm getting this same error too.
