If you're using Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc), you can share your local drives with the remote computer. On the connection dialog, click the Options button, go to the Local Resources tab and check Disk Drives under Local Devices.
Of course it will take quite a while to install Office over a slow connection, so physical access to the server would generally be better!

Check with your network administrator whether your have an appropriate user right to install software on that server. If you have, then make sure that you network connection is good enought to handle the remote installation.

Do you need to buy a graphics card to run a dual monitor setup with Windows xp (Home edition)?
I did here from friends that you can run a dual monitor setup with Windows 2000 and Windows xp, but no one seems to know how.
Any information on this topic or the best graphics card to buy most welcome.

Graham.

You either need two outputs on your graphics card, or a second card. Go to Control Panel > Display > Settings tab. If your card is capable, you should see two monitors displayed with 1 and 2. The second socket on your card might be a DVI socket suitable for use with flat panels; you'll need a DVI-to-VGA (15-pin D) adapter which should have come with your card, although some OEMs may not ship it unless you ordered two monitors with the system.
If you need an additional card: typically you'll only have one AGP or PCI Express socket suitable for graphics cards on your system, so you'll need to get a PCI card. Few games take advantage of a second monitor, so you don't need a top-of-the-range 3D accelerator. Just make sure the card has enough RAM for the resolutions you want to run (not normally a problem as even the highest practical resolutions take less than 16MB of memory), and a RAMDAC capable of running the refresh rate you want (I'd recommend at least 85Hz, preferably 100Hz, at your chosen resolution). Few people seem to realise that you should use the highest refresh rate your setup allows; too many people stick with the default of 60Hz, which is quite tiring on the eyes.
Setting up the system should simply be a case of fitting the PCI card, plugging in a monitor and booting the system.
If your main, primary card is quite old, you might consider just replacing the existing card with a newer 'dual-head' design (i.e. two outputs).

As far as I know, your VGA card must have more than one output.

Hi,
My JIT debugger for scripting is not working. If I encounter a scripting error on a HTML page, I do get a messagebox with the wuestion if I want to debug. When I press yes, nothing happens.
Als the //X and //D options of cscript do not work. I allready reinstalled VS.NET 2003 and searched Google. But I cannot find any solution.
Is there somebody out there with any idee?

OK, maybe I'm just having a brain fart here, but for the life of me, I'm not recalling how to disable internet access for a single user. We're on a Windows 2000 network with Active Directory. I thought there was something I could set in Group Policy, but again, maybe I'm just having a brain fart. Any ideas?
Thanks.

The card may be detected properly, but Windows might not have all the software necessary to interact with it. Try looking here[^] for a driver from the original manufacturer of the audio chipset. You may also need to use Add/Remove Programs to install a mixer device from the Windows Entertainment section - I'm not sure whether that's part of Windows, or provided by the sound card drivers.

Thank you very much for your support. But I think it relate to my sound card. I forget to tell you that I also install linux on that machine too. So when I start linux, linux also report the problem too me. I might be change the slot of my network card and let it try again. If I could not fix it I will change the network card from the other machine.

In my opinion, it is not possible to do that. But I can't guarantee that it is absolutely impossible. Might be the future version of windows, include this feature that you want.

Hi, I have one PC which install windows 98 and windows 2000. I found that Microsoft Virtual PC could run both operating system at the same time. My question is, could use this two OS at the same time to share the file and resource with each other??? I have only machine and want to learn networking but I have only one PC.

Definitely. There are several ways to do this. When using a supported guest OS this easiest possibility to share data between the host and the guest OS is to use the Virtual PC Additions[^].
The man from SCN-CO wrote:

Yes, you can do this with Virtual PC and that's also the possibility I prefer for sharing data between (non-)virtual machines. You can even decide if the traffic on the virtual network should be bridged to the physical network and is also possible connect a virtual machine to the physical network using NAT. So far I've used Virtual PCs for OS tests (including test networks with three concurrent virtual machines) and testing of setup packages. However, depending on how many virtual machines you'd like to run at once you will need a fast CPU and even more important lots 'o RAM!
Best regards

Thank you very much for your comment, I will try all of my test to do it. If it is possible as you said, then I don't need to purchase another PC.

Hi, I have one PC which 2 partition of hard disk drive. The C: drive I used to install operating system and other application. And on the D: drive, I used to store document. The my document folder on my computer is pointed to drive D: . I do this to prevent lost of data in the future. But, my e-mail in outlook express is store on C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\<OE Account Code>\Microsoft\Outlook Express folder. So when I want to back up my e-mail, I have to copy this folder to drive D: . So, what I want from here is make the default message store of outlook express to drive. So I don't need to copy manually. Could any one tell me how to do that???

In Outlook Express, open Tools/Options. Select the Maintenance tab, then click the Store Folder... button. This allows you to set the default storage folder to another location.

Thank you very much for your comment, I found this option too in OE but I don't dare to change it. Because I afraid of lossing the message. Now I will start to test this option with the testing e-mail account!!!

Here's something you can try... Copy all of the .dbx files you have, except the one called Folders.dbx, to the new location. Then change the option. Outlook Express will then recreate the Folders.dbx file to include everything in the destination folder. If that works, you can delete all the old message files from their original location. If not, you still have them and can try something else.
