Hi,
do you have any problems with service packs on WinXP or Win2000 Professional, i have a litle problems with this tool?!

I run it on WinXP with service pack 2 installed, the only glitches I have seen is in the special folders.
For example:
When in the control panel or on a web page and pressing Ctrl+M it comes up but it can't change to the directory and the command fails dropping to command prompt in current OS folder.
With this error: "The syntax of the command is incorrect."
Perhaps an error trap is in order or some way to disable when in special folders or IE?
Sorry I have not tried it on win2000.

Any suggestions on how to debug it?
Any alternatives to provide the same functionality?

I love this app, and it's a shame that it crashes on SP2. Apparently it's fine on some people's PCs, but it seems to be an issue, so let's try to figure it out.
Here's the exception I get:
at System.Windows.Forms.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
I'm guessing it's due to SP2's new memory security, but I'm not exactly sure of what exactly is going on. I downloaded the source, so I'm going to play around with it for a while and post again if I figure anything out. Anyone want to help?

Hello,
I noticed part of the problem is if your Explorer windows is bigger then the max width for a DOS window you get the Null Reference Exception. This should be a fairly simple fix.
The second problem is if you close the Explorer window while the command prompt is still open it crashes.
I was looking to make a similar application until I came across this one. If no one fixes the bugs I may just have to post a fix myself.
I am running on Windows XP Pro SP2

Hi Pavel!
Very nice idea and a great tool! Thanks for sharing!
I found a small bug that should be easy to fix:
If I select a folder in explorer that contains an ampersand ('&') the command prompt cannot change the directory to it. It just says "The system cannot find the path specified."
Perhaps you can fix this in the next version.

If they give you lined paper, write the other way!

Sorry for my unclear subject.
How to display "Command Prompt Explorer Bar" knows everybody.
Here my question again:
I like to display "Command Prompt Explorer Bar" direct with the Start of the "Windows Explorer"; not later with the Hotkey . How can I manage this?
Thank you, for your support.
Great Tool.

I too am looking for a way to make this happen.
Simply put:
When we launch explorer (Win+E) we want the command bar active and waiting.
I often have several explorer windows open, editing and testing scripts and batchfiles that make, edit, update files in the other directory.
Having commandbar open with every explorer launch would be very helpful.

All of Explorer crashes, so I haven't been able to use it.
The idea looks awesome, though!

I have SP2, the latest XP patches to date, and *just* installed .NET 1.1 and .NET SP1. The console works well for me. It's not perfect for what I really wanted, but it's the only option so far that seems stable and has worked with the various 3rd party command line utilities I managed to throw at it (since it is, after all, native CMD). I've tried GXExplorer and briefly Larsen Commander in beta stage. I prefer GXExplorer for layout and features, but it was terribly unstable and in abandoned alpha stage... how sad.

is it possible that there is an issue with the Command Prompt Explorer Bar and WinXP SP2? Somhow it stoped working for me shortly after installing the service pack. Then again ... it could also be the 2005 beta framework ...
too bad .. it was a useful tool ...
cheers

I too have been unable to get it to work under XPSP2, with or without the 2005 beta framework, or 2003.
When I select the explorer bar (or hit ^M), explorer crashes. (Not just the explorer process for that window--once I hit the .NET crash dialog's "continue" button, all explorer processes go down!)
It also screwed up some other custom explorer bars. For example, the Adobe PDF bar does nothing when I select it; it says Adobe PDF is selected, but whatever was previously selected is still visible and active.
