Dunno why you got a one, everyone has to learn. You need to distribute the .NET framework with your app, to all those platforms. some things may not work in W98, but you'd have to read the docs to know for sure.
Actually, I'm not sure if any NT versions prior to 2000 are supported, if they are, they will require the latest service packs.

read up on BootStrapping, thats how you include pre-requisities such as .NET framework. The actual distribution can be either MSI or Click Once. Plenty of articles on on these two deployment techniques on MSDN. A good site on Click Once would be www.dasblonde.net
hope this helps

Is there a way to embed resources to an external assembly programmaticly?
I have to develop a self extracting exe but I have no idea how to attach the data to an assembly.

Self extracting .EXE's are written to look for a specific tag after the .EXE code for the data which it's going to unpack. In a self extracting .ZIP, it's done by creating a normal .ZIP file, then just copying a self extractor .exe to a target filename and appending the original .ZIP file.

Quite an undertaking...
There's a reason why you don't see something like this commercially available. It just doesn't happen!

Hi,
Is it possible to to embed a word document in a C# form view? Like the internet explorer, when we visit a URL of a word document, the document will be opened in the browser instead of launching a stand alone MS Word.
If yes, how to do so?
Thanks

This article might be of use since one of the example screenshots shows a worddoc embedded in a browser control, but because of it's length I haven't read it.

Also look at this, unlike the monster I linked earlier it's very strait forward copy/paste exercise. IT gives everything except the menus which apparently aren't supported by the control. If you find a way to get them working, please post something here, or otherwise let me know since I'm looking into embedding office components as well. (primarily excel since a richedit control would do for what i need with text, but adding all the needed functions from excell into a datagrid would really suck)

EDIT: I'd think/hope there's a way to do it, since if you drag/drop office files into IE itself the proper menus are loaded but there doesn't appear to be one.

Hello everyone
I am creating a plugin for my tech support app that will allow file transfer between two clients. I want to use DIME for this but the only example I have found was a client downloading and uploading files from the server using a webservice.
I was wondering if it was possible to have each client install the webservice on their end and utilize the file transfer capabilities that DIME offers. Instead of a client simply downloading and uploading from a webservice on a server, they would be using the webservice on a client.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have a great day,

I have a process that is executing so fast that the ui can't keep up. there is a function that is called as fast as the next file is copied from an old location to a new location. I am keeping a record of this in a textbox. however, this is happening so fast that the form surface is greyed out kinda and not showing the control's contents untill the process of copying files has completed. Worker threads shouldn't be used to manipulate ui controls, and I've tried using a timer, and I've tried delaying threading. I've had no luck. Even invalidating the control every time a new item should be painted doesn't work. I am very open to any help or suggestions. Thank you,
Stephen

problem solved. if anybody else ever has this problem, this is what I used:
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(15));
form2.Invalidate();
form2.Refresh();
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(20));

You could also replace all this code with a simple call to:
Application.DoEvents();
This will let the UI respond to WM_PAINT messages and update the screen.

Hi
How can I get the location my dll is running at?
Thanks

If its releated to the location of the exe ,then you can get the location of that exe by ,Application.Startuppath property.
