Suggestions? (before I go out and purchase a LinkSys router)

That sounds like a physical problem with the router. I am trying to track down a similar problem with the same model v4 system. The router, however, never locks up -- I have been trying to establish if it is db strength or external influence or something internal. When transferring large files communication will be lost in the middle, unknown reason, but there is no need to reset the router, all physical functionality is maintained following the interrupt. I can start again easily within about 10 seconds without reset. However, it still kills the copy. I'll have to check here for answers in case they are related. Or we both toss our Netgear systems and go linksys.

If the unit is still under warrenty coverage I would hassle them about it, you paid for it, a locked up router should be their fault. Mine has never locked up, it runs unattented at the top of my bookshelf.
