In my opinion, you should build the windows service application which is run automatically during the time that the computer is start up. Try to check svchost.exe process information[^], it is the kind of service that you should not be terminate because it is importance to the windows process. So try to build your service application which is importance to any part of an operating system then you will not be able to disable it.

Log in as you usually would, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, choose Change password, and leave the new password blank.
Of course, if the admin has set a policy on passwords, you can't overcome it.

Hi,
If I try to use Visual Studio as a guest (as opposed to an Administrator) I keep getting messages that tell me I need to prove I'm an Administrator or contact my
Adminsitrator for access to the 'Debugger Users Group' or something like that.
Long story short-- this is all on my own computer (I have an Admin. Profile and I have
a Guest Profile). Please advise and thanks very much in advance...and go easy, I know I have a lot to learn...

Just go to the ComputerManagement console, and give the Guest account the approperate previliges.

You don't need the debugging privilege to debug your own programs. You only need it if you want to debug processes started by other users.
It sounds like you really should be using a normal user account, not a guest account. Guest accounts are heavily restricted by design.

A couple of possibilities. Firstly, if this is a parallel ATA (classic IDE) drive, ensure that you are using an 80-way cable. All modern hard drives and controllers require 80-way cables, but often computers, motherboards or add-in cards are only supplied with one 80-way cable. An 80-way cable has very thin wires in the ribbon, and usually has colour-coded plugs (blue for the controller end, black for the master drive and grey for the slave, IIRC).
If you have the right kind of cable, check that it's plugged in properly and isn't damaged. The easiest way to check it's plugged in properly is to unplug it - remembering which connector goes where - and plug it back in.
If this doesn't seem to help, and you've tried a different cable, the hard disk is probably about to fail. Replace it.

Using Windows Server 2003...
I have an app that is used via terminal services by more than one workstation. If a Windows service is installed/running on the server, can all of the client terminals communicate with it?

It depends on the communication mechanism. If you're using window messages, it probably won't work: only services marked 'interactive' can communicate with a logged on user, and then only with a user logged on at the console. Remote Desktop on Windows XP (that is, with the server running XP) always connects to the console session, locking the physical mouse and keyboard when you do so. Remote Desktop or Terminal Services on Windows Server 2003 normally creates a new session or connects you to an existing session, but you can connect to the console session by passing the /console option to mstsc.exe. Windows 2000 Server does not support this feature.
Larry Osterman of Microsoft posted some more information[^] recently, including the titbit that the console-session hole may be blocked on Windows Vista.
If using something like RPC or sockets you should be fine.

If you're thinking about IPC mechanisms that have names (eg shared memory) then all TS sessions can see the named objects if the name has the Global\ prefix.

If you already have an msi file i think it is easier for you. Try to use windows group policies to install those fix or application during the computer is start up.

Hi everyone,
I'm a system technician at a few primary schools in Australia. We run an SOE using Server 2003 and XP workstations. I have this small thing thats been bugging me, and i was hoping someone here could come up with a solution. Every student has an individual logon, but the start menus are year based and redirected from the server. Applications are installed in certain locations (not all are site licences) but the shortcut for that application is in every start menu... so when a student logs onto a computer that doesn't have a certain application, there is a dead link in the start menu. is it possible to have dead links 'greyed out' and unnacessable??

Does the computer of student from year one to year two are in a seperate room? If so, i think you should manage on the shortcut of each students from the server. You have to know about the software that the school need the student to study and enable only the shortcut to the student based on the subject that they are study. It's need to be flexible.

I'm using IE (version 6.0.2800.1106 Cipher Strength: 128 bit Update versions: SP1, Q867801, Q833989, Q903235;). My IE somtimes closes automatically. I think that this error is caused by this page runs many Javascripts or this page cannot complete to load all the picture...

Try to update your anti-virus and windows update. I don't think an IE close because of the scripting error.
