You just ned to format them correctly for example, if the value is an integer you pass it like this: "select * from table where colID = " & IntVar & "" if it is a string "select * from table where Colval = '" & StringVar & "'" There are more but i cant remember them all. The report size that I have used is A4. The report is getting printed properly on a A4 size paper. But really I am confused about the use of % and *. some time when I uses like '%Str%' it works fine and sometime it doesn't. Access uses either * or %, at least in most cases, and at least some versions of Access. It sounds a bit strange if the same version of Access handles this differently in certain queries, but strange is not really surprising when it comes to Access... Normally access uses * as a wildcard but if you use ADO to access it you need to use %. So a query in the Query designer in access will always be * but 'normally' (you should be using ADO really) in code it will be %. The exception is DAO which is an older access method is closely tied to jet and is in some case much faster and better for dealing with access databases will use * as it is so closely linked to the Jet engine.
