The reason for having a callback is that you don't need to wait for the call to complete. When it completes the callback method is executed. Whatever you need to do after the call completes, you can put in the callback method.

I have three different styles of links that I would like to have on page...
1. General links on the page
2. Navigation menu links
3. Page footer
The problem I'm having is that the different styles keep on affecting other ones randomly. For example, the general links on the page are supposed to be in (Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif), however they are inheriting (monospace) from the footer?!?
I have the navigation menu setup in a div like this:
****************************************************
<div id="navmenu">
<a href="#">Menu Link 1</a>
<a href="#">Menu Link 2</a>
</div>
****************************************************
...and the footer setup liks this:
****************************************************
<div id="footer">
click <a href="#"> here </a>
****************************************************
Here is my CSS code:
****************************************************
/*NAVIGATION MENU LINK PROPERTIES*/
#navmenu a, a:link, a:visited, a:active {
padding-left: 25px;
padding-top: 5px;
padding-bottom: 5px;
font-variant: small-caps;
line-height: 30px;
letter-spacing: +1px;
font-family: cursive;
font-size: 12px;}
/*NAVIGATION HOVER PROPERTIES*/
#navmenu a:hover {
color: #eded0a;}
/*GENERAL LINK PROPERTIES*/
a, a:link, a:visited, a:active {
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
color: #f8f8f8;
font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 11px;
font-weight: normal;
font-style: normal;
text-decoration: none;
text-indent: 0px;
text-align: left;
font-variant: normal;
text-transform: none;}
a:hover {
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
color: #f8f8f8;
font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 11px;
font-weight: normal;
font-style: normal;
text-decoration: underline;
text-indent: 0px;
text-align: left;
font-variant: normal;
text-transform: none;}
#footer a, a:link, a:visited, a:active {
font-family: monospace;
font-variant: normal;
padding: 0px;
font-size: 10px;}
****************************************************
Thanks for any help you can give!

That is because you have specified the id for the a and a:hover elements only, the a:link, a:visited and a:active also need the id:
#navmenu a, #navmenu a:link, #navmenu a:visited, #navmenu a:active {<br />
<br />
#footer a, #footer a:link, #footer a:visited, #footer a:active {

hi,
Can anyone tell me how can i send mails without using SMTP Server provided by .NET (without using SMTPServer.Send())
I want to send mails in a large number so i dont want to use the relay server of the IIS, as it is slow.
Can anyone tell me how i can bypass the SMTP Server and directly send mail to the internet.
It will be a great help,
Thanks
Sushant Duggal.

Hi all,
Firstly I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong place as my query has alot to do with ie aswell as dhtml.
I have a website which uses a horizontal sliding/accordian menu, which displays the site content. When a user selects a menu item the menu slides to the appropriate position and then a postback is called using Anthem AJAX solution which loads the appropraite content into a panel.
The code fires in this order:
user clicks item > menu slide > loading layer for content > do postback
In most browsers this is fine and seems to exucute cleanly and sequencially, however in ie it seems to execute the 'menu slide' and the 'postback' before the 'menu slide' has completed, causing some weird doubling up of the menu items.
I have prepared a page to look at with an example at the top and below screen shots of what it does (incase you cannot see it in your browser) http://www.designview.co.nz/test.aspx note: to initialize the menu click the colors, not the bar even though the hand comes up.
The script for the slider is located here http://www.designview.co.nz/scripts/conslide.js
Please note I am not a javascript guru, but am quite happy with what I have been able to achieve with my limited knowledge and pretty much have the sliding menu working the way I want it. I would definitly appreciate some feedback or comments on the code tho as I know it is not perfect and could be better, so any suggestions are welcomed.
Thank you in advance

1. Is there a way to get notification event/handler to window.ActiveXObject via IWebBrowser2 or any other Internet Explorer Library?
2. Can anyone share some thoughts of why this IE bookmarklet (a simple XMLHTTPRequest tracer in Javascript) would work with Google Maps, Google Suggest, Yahoo Mail Beta but not Gmail and Windows Live Mail Beta)?
javascript:function%20loadScript(scriptURL)%20{%20var%20scriptElem%20=%20document.createElement('SCRIPT');%20scriptElem.setAttribute('language',%20'JavaScript');%20scriptElem.setAttribute('src',%20scriptURL);%20document.body.appendChild(scriptElem);}%20loadScript('http://www-scf.usc.edu/~deassisf/XHR-Debugging-IE.js');
Thank you so much

What I am trying to do here is recording the sent/received webmail. Before AJAX era, I utilized OnBeforeNavigate in WebBrowser Control to get notification event so I can capture the traditional webmail. But now with AJAX, since the top URL will not change when user click on "Inbox","Compose", the usual trick won't work and I think I need to inspect the data retrieved by XMLHTTP which means I need to have notification event for that. Do you know any way to do this for IE?
Thanks

I'm having the problem of my CSS looking screwy under IE or working with IE and looking screwy uner Fire fox.
Are there any guides on writing CSS that plays nice with both...or should i use script to choose a style sheet based on the users browser and have a CSS for NS and one for IE?
Thanks.

It's definitely possible to write CSS that works with both IE 6 and other browsers.
I make the clear distinction between IE 6 and other browsers because most other browsers follow the standards very well, but IE 6 has a number of rendering bugs that you have to avoid specifically.
Start by making it work in Firefox, then it will in most cases also work in other browsers like Netscape, Mozilla and Opera. Then you try to tweak it to also work with IE 6.
Here are descriptions[^] of the most IE rendering bugs.

Could someone explain this( i mean the bold ,and underlined part) who is really familiar with Web Services:
Web services is at once a technology, a process, and a phenomenon. As a technology it is a set of
protocols that builds on the global connectivity made possible by SOAP and the synergies of XML
and HTTP. As a process, it is an approach to software discovery and connection over the Web. As
a phenomenon, it's an industry-wide realization that the decentralized, loosely coupled, synergistic
Web can't be ignore
Thanks!
