Hello,
Im encountering a deadlock when i debug certain part of a large windows form application when the code interacts with the clipboard.
i've made a small example to reproduce the problem
Public Class Form1
Private Sub btn_SaveToClipboard_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToClipboard.Click
Dim ido As DataObject = New DataObject()
Dim file() As String = {"C:\somefile.doc", "C:\somefile.txt"}
ido.SetData(DataFormats.FileDrop, False, file)
Clipboard.SetDataObject(ido, False)
End Sub
Private Sub btn_RetrieveFromClipboard_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RetrieveFromClipboard.Click
Dim ido As IDataObject = Clipboard.GetDataObject()
If Not ido Is Nothing Then
If Clipboard.ContainsData(DataFormats.FileDrop) Then
Dim o As Object = ido.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop, True)
End If
End If
End Sub
End Class
if i place a breakpoint anywhere and mouseclick in the code and then start singlestepping i get the same deadlock.
I googled my way to an article that seems to suggest a solution but im not sure what the solution is:

any help is appreciated.

Hi Indunil,
You may be facing this error because of wrong sql query syntex generated.
Try to print sql query you just generated before fill. Also put your fill code in try catch block.
Hope for the best.

Hi.
I am using crystal reports 9 and vb6 and MS-ACCESS Database File.
I have connected the report to the DataEnvironment command in design mode using the report wizard.
the report is then viewed through the report viewer (automatically added after the wizard completion)
the report work fine initially.
the problem is that when the number of records are increased in the table, the report becomes very slow.(more than 60 seconds and more)
am i doing something wrong?????
what are the steps to created a report properly (also using two or more linked tables)?????
thank you

I'm trying to make Outlook addin that will add one button to outlook context menu---
(VB.net / C# .net (NO C++ .net))
first,
ActiveExplorerCBars = applicationObject.ActiveExplorer.CommandBars
then
cmdbar = ActiveExplorerCBars.Item("Context Menu") 'cmdbar is commandbar object "^getting error here"
control = cmdbar.Controls.Add(MsoControlType.msoControlButton)
With control
.Caption = "kedar"
.visible = true
..... other props
End With
but i'm gettin an error that the parameter "Context Menu" is incorrect @ cmdbar = Active......
"i have seen code working in vb but not in vb.net so keep that in mind and reply for vb.net"
i've refered -- http://www.outlookcode.com/codedetail.aspx?id=526
http://www.outlookcode.com/codedetail.aspx?id=314 ?
and similar codes but they'r not of any use to me,.....
I think "Context Menu" is not a valid parameter. But accordg to other resources i've cometo know that outlook has that Named menu.
I'd like if anyone can post a code to add the button to context menu.
thnx in advance

Given that the OP deleted their post, I guess they don't really want to know any more.

I'm not sure what you expect this to do. If you want to add to a starting date, there are two ways to do that, as follows:
Dim dt As DateTime = DateTime.Now
Dim dt2 As DateTime = New DateTime(dt.Year + 1, dt.Month, dt.Day)
Dim dt3 As DateTime = dt + New TimeSpan(365, 0, 0, 0)
You can call Convert.ToDateTime on your string that contains 1/1/2007, and there are numerous functions in a DateTime object to reformat it as a string.

Assuming it's a text file to start with, just read it all into memory, then look for chunks that are 2K in size, and save them off. Which bit are you needing help with ?

Hi all,
I am doing my Master's in Computing and Information Science. For my MS I need to do two projects. One related to web as a course so I am planning to do a project in ASP.NET 2.0 using C# or VB.net and other singletone C# or VB.net as Masters project. But I am thinking either to implement one means if I created web using C# then my master's project will be in VB.net or vice versa. I am new to the .net technology but I do have enough time to learn the technology and to code. About creating web site requirements are like database backend, high performance and not regarding online shopping as all other students did that. And for Masters req. project I am free to choose any topic. So I was just wondering can anyone please help me to finalizing the project topics specially for Masters. I dont want the code but a good project topic so that I can learn .net as well as it will be a good impression on my resume to get a job. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank You.

When are you going to finish your project? Have you consulted with your faculty members on your project?

paul, I didn't consulted with my faculty yet but planning to end with my both projects at the end of summer/fall 2008. I will be very thankful if you suggest some topic. Thank You.

I have this code in my vb.net program.
Me.TickersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.DataSet1.Tickers)
It fills the data from the external file fine. However, I'd like to be able to refill the data after it has been changed by an external program. Calling the line a second time doesn't work because I get "datareader already active on this command" error. How can I refill the data from the external file?

create another data adapter?
|
|
|
|

Sorry, that doesn't make sense to me. I have one dataset that I want to keep updated. The dataset can be updated by an external program. I would like to refresh the dataset by re-reading it periodically to reflect those external changes. This seems like it must be possible using only one data adapter. But maybe I'm missing something. thanks for your response!

first of all make a function to fill dataset .
then whenever u want to reload ur dataset , call ur function .
but dont forget to clear the table(Tickers) in which it is going to load b4 calling the function . i hope it might work for u .
