The problem is that while it might be useful for a few hundred regulars, and even then I question how many will take the time to setup such a list, the vast majority of readers won't have any idea who to put in such a list, and a CP sanctioned one has major potential to cause fights.

Hi,
New users always complain saying that they cannot find the link to register them self ..
I have no idea, why code project cannot provide that link just next to user name/ password boxes..

If they are a new user, haven't they therefore found said registration link? This is a rhetorical question.

nope,,, since...
When I say user he can or cannot be registered with code project.
Code Project is not the only place to post a complain.
I got ten fifteen complains from my colleages, so thought to make the suggestion.. isn't this really make sense to go with the common standard.

If they are not registered, then they obviously cannot be a "new user."
Nirosh wrote: Code Project is not the only place to post a complain.
Just what exactly is that supposed to mean?

I think it means that Nirosh has sent collegues here and repeatedly had them ask him where the register link was hiding.

Sure they can. Before I registered, I read loads of articles. I considered myself to be a "user" of the site. I didn't register until I wanted to participate in the forums and write articles.

Really,,, Let's define the term "New User", before every thing, but let me also tell you this, it is a good way of running away from the main point.

Mean, that I got some complains via IM and also verbally..

I believe this is to test the persons knowledge of the internet.
It is always very simple to find the registration button at almost any site.
If the site does not have the link next to the login field you simply enter a random user name/password and wait to be provided with a nice little link to the registration form.

I believe this shows the knowledge you have on basics of HCI (Human Computer Interaction)
Again if the intension is what you said, then from code project point of view also, they have to expect some magic to say a wrong user name and password if they are to stop waist of their processor power.. (This mean the system has to go to the database and compare the entered user name and password before it prompts the error screen with the link to “new user register”)
It is better to correct the mistake than waist time on finding reason to support it.

Either the default colorization of visited links is turned off or a terrible color. When searching I constantly have to disable the site's style sheets in Firefox just to keep track of the search links I've visited when I go back. Please please, give a better color for visited links on the search results page.

Doesn't Fire Fox support custom CSS templates? Try and override the style class "messagetitle" of the A tag. (ie A.messagetitle)
For example in IE Click Tools, Internet Options, Accessibility, Check "Format all documents using my style sheet", and apply a custom CSS doc to all WebPages.
The lack of distinction in signatures drove me nuts, so I added my own.

border: 1px solid #FF9900;
}
Why apply the same rules throughout the entire website when we can override them individually. Customize them to our own tastes. Best part is it doesn’t affect CP as a whole.
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Thanks for the help, but I'm not sure how to implement what you suggest in Firefox.

Hi,
This is a re-post from the Lounge as I didn't know where to report problems with CodeProject pages. Someone there directed me to here.
I've been getting Javascript errors on most of the CodeProject pages (particularly article pages) and I wanted to report them to the webmaster. However, I cannot locate a "contact us" link or anything resembling it. Also, the "About Us" link under the Help! drop-down never returns. No place seems to be listed on the site map.
I'm hoping the webmaster reads this forum regularly.
Anyway, most pages have a message like "Highlight is not defined" (I am viewing with Firefox. Forgive me.)
The debugger shows things like this:
<script language="javascript" DEFER>Highlight(Array());</script><br />
<h2>=>About Nibu babu thomas</h2><br />
It doesn't really bother me that much, but it seems a shame to have this on such a nicely formatted web site, doesn't it.

I had an unedited article that was edited and assigned a new URL. But it seems that the link to the article in the notification email (when someone posts a message on the article page) links to the original unedited article URL.

how about creating a windows based code project browsing utility
1) it will consume less band width (adds can be stored at users end)
2) it will be more customisable
3) no log in log out required
4) may have a separate cache which will not cleaned out every time user clean temporary Internet files
5) more secure (as much as i know)
6) save resources (point 1,3,4)
7) you will have more power and scope of workout new things
8) user can customize the look according to his/her preferences (themes)

While surfing Dotnetspider (http://www.dotnetspider.com/[^]), I came across the website called Community Credit (http://www.community-credit.com/[^]), to which the forum submissions are alerted.
It is like encouraging forum contributors and peer helpers in technology forums.
How about Codeproject also having this webservice integrated into these forums?
