Hi,
Bind a datatable with Combobox using datasource property of the combobox. Your datatable should have the results fetched from the DB. Furthermore you can set DisplayMember and ValueMember for combobox.

Good day to all developers here in code project! I'm currently developing a client/server application using VB6. I want to create a unique id code with a combination of letters and numbers (ex. IdCode = "PT-06-0001") and the source of autogeneration is from my table in access 2000 with an autonumber field. What is the best approach in retrieving this number if user A and user B transact at the same time?
Thank you in advance...

Good day all,
Using VB6, I am trying to send the Tear Off Command to an Epson LX300 printer. I have tried sending "Chr(27) + Chr(74) + Chr(144)" to the printer as the "Feed to Cutter" command, but this does not seem to work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Apologies for the incomplete information.
The printer uses roll feed paper.
I'm printing directly to the printer port.
Here is a code snippet:
CurrentFileNum = FreeFile
Open PPort For Output As CurrentFileNum
Print #CurrentFileNum, ""
Close CurrentFileNum

Hello all I'm looking for a turorial that shows data access and gives some insight into database creation. I'm trying to put together my own applications but I'm finding data access difficult. I'm not really sure what attributes to give my table obects(I know what I would give them in access but I'm not familiar with sql). Also I'm just getting to know 'visual web dev 2005 exp' so I think getting through a few tutorials would help. I've been going through (http://www.asp.net/learn/dataaccess/default.aspx?tabid=63), They are good but the databases are already created. If you don't know of any could you tell me where you learned how to work with sql. Any help would be appreciatted

Microsoft have a downloadable pdf file called something like "MS Visual Web Developer 2005 - Build a WebSite.pdf" and similar such files for C# and VB.Net languages Express Editions.
These books give a gentle introduction to web design, C# & VB.Net programming for the .Net2 framework. However, they don't go deep enough in terms of database design.
It would be worthwhile you visiting Microsoft's website and searching for the MS Access version of their Northwinds Demonstration Database and then using the MS Access application (part of MS Office) to take apart that database. Look at the structure of the tables and how they relate to one another and later look at the queries and try to understand what they are doing. It is not something that will take just a few minutes to learn, and sometimes it can be frustrating, so be patient.
It is worth your while reading tutorials from the basics and I give you some internet links to try. By reading these in conjucntion with taking apart the demo database you will learn much which generally is knowledge transferable to other database systems.

Hi,
I am new in VB.NET web service development and have problem when add web reference for a web service at production server while it's no problem
at development server. The error message was
"There was an error downloading 'http://xxx.xx.xxx.xx/Service1.asmx'.
The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
Is anyone can help?? TIA

"xxx.xx.xxx.xx" is not a valid domain name. Is that an IP address that you have replaced? If so, is it an address that is reachable from the server?
When do you get the error message? Do you always get the error message or sometimes?
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

|
|
yes "xxx.xx.xxx.xx" is an IP address and the address is reachable
I always get that error message when add web reference.
I already simulate with my other local computer (Windows 2003 server)
that installed with same web service and had same error.
Is the server or my Windows 2003 server require to install UDDI Service?
If so, where can I get resource about UDDI Service installation and
configuration?
Thx

If you're using VB.NET, you can use the string.Format method to format a number to have a fixed number of digits. And, of course, put the B in front of it.

Hi,
Good day everyone.
Why is it the RowFilter property of RelatedDataView class
does not filter the records.
Here's my code snippet,
ctype(ctype(me.BindingContext(GridControl.DataSource,"MyRelation"),CurrencyManager).List,DataView).RowFilter="IsRecorded=True"
Is there any other ways to filter records in RelatedDataView class?
Hoping for positive response.
